BRISTOL, CONN. – Saint Joseph’s will open play in the fourth annual Charleston Classic presented by Foster Grant on November 17 against Georgia Tech at the Carolina First Arena in Charleston, S.C., it was announced by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN.
Joining the Hawks in the tournament field along with Georgia Tech are LSU, Northwestern, Seton Hall, Tulsa, Virginia Commonwealth and Western Kentucky. VCU made a run to the NCAA Final Four last season, while Northwestern reached the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament.
The first round will commence on Thursday, November 17, with games featuring Tulsa against Western Kentucky at 12:30 p.m.; LSU versus Northwestern at 3 p.m. (ESPNU); and VCU against Seton Hall at 5:30 p.m. (ESPNU). The Hawks and Yellow Jackets will play in the final game of the day at 8 p.m.
On Friday, November 18, the Hawks are slated to face either VCU or Seton Hall at 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
The bracket-format tournament will feature 12 games in three days with an off day on Saturday, November 19. Each team will compete in one game per day, with the two teams that remain undefeated facing off in a championship match Sunday, Nov. 20, at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
