does this even count as a controversial ending? a controversy has 2 sides to an argument, and this simply doesn’t. But as a Cardinal fan and a person who picked the Braves in the world series, im OK with this result. hahaha. but seriously, we neeeeeed expanded replay in baseball. this guy is going to be getting threatened for making an error at his job. I am sure we’ve all made mistakes, and that kind of scrutiny is unfair, especially when we have the technology to avoid it
I would always go to bat for LaRussa. He gets the most out of his guys and always has the Red birds in the thick of things. Hes a no nonsense guy, and wants things his way. I doubt I would like to play for him, but as a fan, I am confident that he has the teams best interest at heart. Trading Rasmus was a way of cutting ties before things got to ugly. The 2 clearly didn’t see eye to eye, and instead of trying to deal with that, he made a move to win this year. As a fan, I cannot ask for much more than that. I back LaRussa in the deal for that reason (willingness to win now) and because I feel John Jay is Rasmus’s equal. He may be cut throat, but he wins games, and isn’t apologizing for it
Can’t really argue with that, I suppose. The only thing I wonder about is if his huge ego gets in the way, but I can appreciate your belief that he always puts the team’s best interests first.

I’ve been a La Russa fan ever since he was managing the ChiSox back in the ’80s. True, he’s not incredibly “likeable”, but as Kyle says, his teams are almost always disciplined, well-schooled, and very competitive and “in the thick of it”. They win … they’re not always champions or pennant-winners … but they win.
He does have an ego, which can be a hindrance now and then, but I also think aspects of his personality get his teams to perform consistently well. As a fan, I’ll gladly take that.
Moss retires. When asked how he’d like his retirement check, he replied “straight cash, homey.” Sorry for the cheesy comment; I couldn’t resist.
Watching the Indians come from behind on the Saux right now as John Lackey gives up back-toback bombs to Asdrubal and Hafner. Wally is an AL Central affiliate and we have a majority of baseball guys on here now, so does anyone see the Ubaldo trade paying off for the Tribe? To me, the Fukudome trade is more telling that they aren’t serious contenders. Their offense is inconsistent and they get a guy with 18 RBIs for a team that boasts several starters hitting below .230.

Rey, yes, but who are these young guys in the lineup that were smacking the ball all over Fenway last night? I like the Indians better than the WhiteSox to win the division, I’ll admit that. Fukodome is just another average guy … was actually pretty disappointing with the Cubs, given the hype he had in Japan.
While I didn;t think things could get any worse, I think Adam Dunn is achieving a new low … he might now be hitting below .160 (less than 50% of his weight!) and he notched another 3 K’s last night to go with two botched plays in the field (Konerko is out briefly).
Let’s talk about anything except the controversial end to the Braves-Pirates game the other night. 🙂
What controversial end to the Braves-Pirates game?
So now you’re going to make me talk about it, aren’t you?

Hahaha – I was trying to act like it didn’t happen. 🙂

Ohhhhhhh…nowww I get it. It’s hard to pick up on things like that on the Internet.
Kyle, as a Cardinal fan, what is your opinion of Tony LaRussa?

I’m sure you guys have heard about Hideki Irabu by now. Sad story, of course.
