Performance of the week | E’Twaun Moore

February 21, 2011 by Paul Gotham 8 Comments

By Paul Casey Gotham

It is that time again. Let’s hear from you readers. We had another week of stellar performances. Pick the ONE (1), UNE, UNO from February 14-20th that stands out to you, and tell us a story.

Purdue’s E’Twaun Moore gets my POTW.

The Ohio State Buckeyes were looking to climb back to the top of the rankings. They would have to wait for another day.

E’Twaun Moore scored a career-high 38 points as the Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Buckeyes 76-63 at West Lafayette, Indiana.

Moore did a little bit of everything hitting seven 3s and finishing acrobatic lay ups. The senior guard hit 13 of 18 from the field and 7 of 10 from long range. Moore added five of seven free throws.

Moore handed out five assists to go with two steals and four rebounds on the afternoon.

Who gets your POTW.

Wow… it is quiet on here.. I am picking up right where I left off and going with Aaron Baddeley for winning the Northern Trust Open. Long filled on potential and promise, the young Australian won for the first time since 2006.

To do it, he had to hold off Los Angeles favorite – Freddy Couples.

My POTW goes to James Dolan for pulling off the ‘Melo trade. OK, not really, but I thought it would be a good way to kick off discussion about the deal.

I need to hear from the site’s basketball experts:

    1) Is this a good deal for the Knicks?
    2) Did they give up too much?

    I suspect the answers are:

    1) Yeah, but…
    2) Probably

A couple of key points to me, i.e. questions that my mind wants answered:

    1) At this stage in his career, how does Chauncey Billups compare to Raymond Felton? Is he a better fit for a team that wants to make a run in the playoffs, but a long-term downgrade based on the age difference? Or, is Felton better right now, and Billups is just an acceptable downgrade in order to get Anthony?

    2) Does the deal leave the Knicks too weak at the center position?

The Knicks aren’t any weaker at the center position than the Heat. I just realized that I made Miami relevant. 🙂 The big 3 “won’t” kill my baby – to spin a Stripes song.

Great question about Chauncey in comparison to Felton. Too bad the Carolina high school playoffs get into full swing this week. Rey won’t have any time to comment on this. Felton is only as good as the guys around him. Chauncey makes guys better. Strange as it may seem, Felton might be the better guard for the Knicks lineup. He is willing to play the pawn role. Chauncey would get in guys’ ears. Of course, Felton is a lame duck. Right? Chris Paul is on his way. Right?

All that being said – A’mare and ‘Melo don’t play defense which means the Knicks can be a threat, but that is it. ‘Melo also adds to the entertainment factor at the Garden. That is a good thing.

The NBA is its own biggest enemy. 30 teams? There is not 30 teams worth of talent.

On another note – Shane Battier might be going to Boston. 🙂

What does Raymond Felton have to do to get some love??? He and A’mare have been a perfect compliment all season..

It was interesting listening to Jon Barry’s opinion about the trade. He thinks it is one of the worst things the Knicks could have done.

On a side note – there really isn’t a place to comment on this and I can’t wait until Thursday to comment..

But what does it say about the state of the Cleveland Browns when they use their Franchise Tag on their kicker Phil Dawson??
