On the heels of the Tiger Woods nonsense, why is it we cut athletes so much slack? If you were cheating on your wife, and smacked up the car, where would you be now? What about Kobe Bryant and his rape? And so on, and so on, with a million other instances? Fundamentally, it’s just some guy whacking a ball, or tossing a ball through a hoop, making tons of money. Why don’t the normal slobs like us get a break? Imagine, coming home from a rough day, you stop for a quick beer, and speed home, because the wife is going crazy with the kids wrecking the house. The cop pulls, you over, you tell him how your boss is up in your grill, your kids are driving you nuts, you can’t get any sleep, bills are piling up, and he says, hey, this one’s on me, drive safe on the way home. Never happen, right? But say you’re Jim Kelly blasting through Buffalo – it could, right?
