I’d like to hear some opinions on the BCS and the participation, or lack thereof, of teams from the “mid Major” conferences like the WAC and Mountain West. Bottom line opinion for me is this … Boise State, TCU, whoever it is … if they’re undefeated at the end of the regular season, they should be guaranteed a spot in one of the 6 big games. It’s likely that only 1 team from the major BCS conferences will be undefeated in December … Texas or an SEC team. I think Boise and TCU definitely deserve to be in the mix … I’m not saying they should play for the national title, but if they’re undefeated, they should be guaranteed a big bowl game. And maybe TCU rises to #2 … then they should play for the title. Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of projections that have an undefeated BSU team playing in a non-BCS bowl and that bothers me.

The Bowl Collusion Syndicate is a crock of elitist crap. Big money conferences looking out for themselves and not for the game. Who said the major conferences play the best football? I would love to see a team like TCU, Boise St., or for that matter …Navy play either the entire Big Ten or Pac 10. I would be willing to go out on a limb and say TCU wins at least 80% of their games in such a scenario. Navy would go .500 at worst against those major schools.

I haven’t taken the time (yet), but NFL teams are starting to figure out that the best football isn’t always played in the six major conferences. Guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Darren Sharper, Marques Colston, Joe Flacco, etc. all managed to get prepared for Sundays while not playing for the national title.

Major conferences have become a place where big-time athletes go, so they can showcase their talents on a big stage. Football players go to small schools to learn the game and play.

Better yet.. How about Boise State being unable to schedule home and home series with teams with major conferences. Since Boise State is 59-2 in this decade. They have mainly targeted PAC-10 and Big 12 teams, but are open to playing anyone from another major conference.

Let’s see some of these major powerhouse teams (Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, or USC) step and take on Boise State on the blue turf..

Before I forget – major kudos to Oregon coach,Chip Kelly for reinstating LaGarrette Blount.. I think Coach Kelly gave him some goals to work for , he has met them and now has a second chancec. Let’s hope hope that LaGarrette can make the best of them,.

I agree with you guys about wanting to see some changes and, more importantly, see teams like TCU and Boise St at least get a shot at the title. But, realistically speaking, I think it has to start with them scheduling some tough non-conference opponents. I know Boise St did beat Oregon, who’s having a good year, but it probably needs to be higher profile than that. It doesn’t sound fair, but if they have to start with away games only, then that’s what they’ll have to do. They need those games. The Pac-10 and Big 12 schools don’t, so sometimes you have to understand who has the negotiating leverage.

    Chas —
Good point, but the first step is to get schools like BSU a shot at just getting into one of the Big 6 bowl games … I’m not even talking about a title shot. But if BSU goes undefeated and are one of say only 2 or 3 undefeated teams in the nation, and they soundly beat Oregon, and 12 teams will play in the “Big 6” games … then they should automatically qualify for an invite for the big pay day. It’s a travesty if they end up being ranked 7th or higher in the BCS ranking and don’t get to play in one of the big bowls.
