I was born in New York City, but settled in Syracuse following a 15-year playing career. I was a member of the team that brought the only major professional sports championship to that upstate New York community, and still live there to this day. My son played at Syracuse University, and actually played professionally three years longer than I did, although I accumulated more than twice as many points and assists, and very close to twice as many rebounds, as he did. In fact, upon my retirement, I was the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and I was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973.
Who am I?

Rey is on the board. Chas gets a helmet sticker.

I’m glad it was my question that allowed Rey to get on the board.
Interesting story: I’m 22 years old, just out of college, and moving to Syracuse for my first job. I’m renting my first apartment on my own. I’m in the office of my new landlord, a really tall 60ish guy (at the time). He has posters on his walls of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and some much less recognizable guy on the Denver Nuggets.
I was kind of an SU b-ball fan growing up, so I say, “is that Danny Schayes”? His response: “That’s my boy!” Yes, Dolph Schayes was my landlord.

Much obliged, Chas.
