Who am I?

October 25, 2008 by Paul Gotham 5 Comments

My career in sports has known few boundaries. After working on the family farm in Georgia I shuffled off to the Marines before landing at Washington State University. I have worked with the likes of Joe Paterno, Woody Hayes, Bob Griese, and Dan Fouts. I was there when Spitz won 7, and Heiden skated to 5. I was on hand for Bucky’s blast as I was when the Mets beat the Astros in 16. I was there when MNF started and when the BCS began. Wolverines have credited me with the nickname for their home.

As I watch PSU v OSU ( I only watch football on Saturdays – couldn’t care less what happens on Sundays) I feel the need to mention that today OK St lost the college football belt. It’s an obscure and mythical award that’s been around since 1971. Check out the web site: http://www.collegefootballbelt.com
It’s a neat little meaningless tradition that exemplifies what college football is all about.
