Who am I?

October 8, 2008 by Paul Gotham 4 Comments

I was born in West Virginia. After being taken in the second round of the MLB draft, I went on to that rare accomplishment of playing my entire career – 21 seasons – with one team. I won three batting titles while collecting over 3,100 base hits. I hit over 300 home runs and swiped over 200 bags. I also led the AL in slugging % and hits three times. I batted .337 in nine postseason series. I played on one World Series champion. I won a gold glove, three silver sluggers, a league MVP (finished second on two other occasions), and an ALCS MVP. I had an incident with pine tar. You can see my plaque in Cooperstown.

    Casey —
Did you have to just give it away with the pine tar comment? Geez … at least make us do a little work 🙂

    Good pounce, Smitty!

As I was reading, I was going between Robin Yount and George Brett. Once I saw pine tar, it was a dead giveaway.
