Good things come to those who wait. Just ask Steve Muoio of the Webster Yankees.
While four of his teammates garnered in-season recognition from the New York Collegiate Baseball League, Muoio led the Webster nine in a handful of offensive categories.
In the end the Webster native received the notoriety he so deserved.
The NYCBL announced the first and second All-League Team, and Steve Muoio earned a spot on the first team.
Muoio’s batting average of .375 –including .405 with runners in scoring position -led Webster and was good for third in the league. He also topped the Webster charts with 48 hits, 20 RBI, a slugging percentage of .469 and a .459 on-base percentage.

This fall Muoio plans to attend Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. The Bobcats are a Division II team from the Peachbelt Conference.
Muoio was an integral part of Monroe Community College’s recent run to the Junior College World Series. He hit .421 with six home runs, and 58 RBI as the Tribunes finished third in the nation.
Muoio’s teammates, Ryan Sullivan (U of R), Aaron Etchison (Ball St.), John Kenny (Hofstra), and Adam Curynski (So. Illinois), all earned NYCBL Player-of-the Day honors. Curynski also nabbed Pitcher-of-the-Week while Kenny grabbed Player-of-the-Week.
Joe McIntyre (North Carolina A&T) and Bryan Gardner (Ithaca) both earned all-league recognition in 2007 while playing with Webster.
Gardner was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and currently pitches for the Gulf Coast Reds – of the rookie Gulf Coast league.
