The Bulldogs got off to a 2-0 lead after Beardsley and Seth Eadie each scored in the second inning, but a four-run fourth inning from Haverling gave the Rams the lead. Beardsley had an RBI in the fifth inning that cut it to a one-run game. Eadie got the win on the rubber after throwing a scoreless three and two third innings of relief and striking out seven. He also singled twice. Kaidan O’Connor got the start for the Bulldogs and retired five batters on strikes in three and a third innings while adding a single a walk at the plate. Braxton Clark struck out two batters over two thirds of an inning while Chase Haas retired four batters on strikes in an inning and a third as the team combined for a no-hitter. Clark pieced together a single, two RBI, and a scored run. Haas singled, scored, and brought a runner home. Mason Baldwin paired a single with an RBI, as did Jimmy Day. Kingston Loucks scored, singled, and got on base once via a walk. Connor Margeson had a base hit. Schappacher and Ryder Iantorno each walked once and scored. Lucas Haskins walked twice. Vincent Joyce walked twice and crossed home plate once for Andover-Whitesville. Jake Mattison had an RBI. Anthony Button got the start on the mound and earned the win after five innings of one-hit baseball. He retired four batters on strikes. Andrew Ordiway, Matt Ritter, and Brennen Geffers each singled. Ty Rahr tripled and Karter Grover doubled. Ben Heleveston and Huddy Hoffman each scored once. It is the first career win for head coach John Anderson.
“The win tonight was the result of hard-work in the off-season,” Anderson said via email. “Our seniors were hitting the ball well, just right at people. The underclassmen led the hitting with extra base hits and tremendous results on the mound.”
