Wednesday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: HF-L and Mercy set for rematch in state quarterfinals; Waterloo advances in Class B bracket

CLASS A

HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (16-8) 43

Alysa Richards connected on four 3-pointers as part of a 16-point effort to go with four assists as HF-L clinched a spot in the NYS Class A quarterfinals. Shaye Angelo had 13 points including going 6-of-6 from the free throw line in the final minute of the game. Sarah Smith added 10 points and 14 rebounds for HFL. The win was the 575th in the career of HF-L coach, Steve Willoughby. HF-L will face Our Lady of Mercy on Saturday at Finger Lakes Community College.

LAKE SHORE (VI) 49
OUR LADY OF MERCY (15-9) 54

Laura Kosten and Robin Jones scored seven apiece in the second quarter. Wandtke had eight in the frame, and the Monarchs, after managing just three field goals over the first eight minutes of action, used a 26-14 advantage to take a lead into the break. READ MORE.

SOUTHWESTERN (VI) 45
WATERLOO (20-5) 67

As it has been for most of Waterloo’s wins this season, Addison Bree and Gwyn Panek led the way. Panek finished with a game-high 20 points. Bree added 19. READ MORE.
