Tah’Jier Holmes and Brien Walker each scored 11 points, but it wasn’t enough as Grand Island took the Class A Sub-Regional win. Monroe trailed 14-11 after the first quarter. John Hardy also reached double-digits for the Red Jackets with 10, while Navareon Patton and Jordan Reis both had seven points. Jordan Thomas (3) and Anthony Omebe (2) also scored. Grand Island’s Dane Brown led all scorers with 39 points.
CLASS B
BISHOP KEARNEY (21-3) 56
FREDERICK OLMSTEAD (VI) 65
Jaiden Pascoe and Jayden Capers both scored 17 points but Bishop Kearney never held a lead as the Kings saw their season come to an end in the Class B sub-regional. Jacob Rybczynski scored 11 points, while Maddox Volpe added eight and Colby Speight put up three. Jaden Wolf led Frederick Olmstead with 27 points.
CLASS C
HONEOYE (22-2) 56
LYONS (22-2) 70
Lyons opened the quarter with a layup and then a steal that resulted in another layup in the first 45 seconds. After a Honeoye timeout, more stops led to the Lions getting out in transition and knocking down open shots. The main defensive key for Lyons was slowing down Washburn, who scored Honeoye’s only four points in the first six minutes of the quarter as Lyons sprinted to a 68-51 lead. READ MORE.
