Tuesday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Alicia Wood paces Keshequa to state quarterfinals appearance; Hart drops 16 to lead Webster Schroeder

Kenyatta Hart dropped seven of her team-high 16 points in the third quarter to help Webster Schroeder outscore Canandaigua 22-11. Hart drained two shots and went 3-for-5 at the free throw line to help the Warriors earn a state tournament appearance. The eighth grader also added eight rebounds and two blocks. Kylie Clement recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Avery Kroening scored all 13 of her points in the second half. Olivia Fulkerson stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, six assists, three steals and two rebounds. Jenna DiMarco added six points to close out the scoring for the Warriors. Canandaigua’s Sophia Frayne led the Gray Wolves with a game-high 18 points. Gianna Buchiere followed with 12 points. Leah Sheridan (6) and Kadyn Chapman (6) also scored for Canandaigua. Webster Schroeder will advance to the state quarterfinals to face off against North Tonawanda (VI) on Friday, March 13 at Finger Lakes Community College at 6 p.m. READ MORE.

After starting the first quarter up 16-9, Keshequa’s Alicia Wood recorded 10 of her team-leading 16 points in the second quarter to help Keshequa use a 21-1 advantage to pull away in state qualifier action. Wood recorded five buckets all within the arc to lead the Wildcats to the state quarterfinals. Braelyn Isaman followed with 14 points, scoring at least three in every quarter. Ryley Benner connected on two threes and finished with 10 points. Riley Nageldinger scored eight points. Bree Benner (4), Belle Rigney (3) and Quinn Powers (2) rounded out the scoring for Keshequa. Payton Bentley led Canisteo-Greenwood with a game-high 18 points. Bailey Mullen added 10 points. Gracen Mahany and Kara Mahany finished with five points apiece. Keshequa advanced to the state quarterfinals and will face Frewsburg (VI) in a rematch of last year’s state quarterfinal. That game is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at Finger Lakes Community College at 7:45 p.m.
