
One team is looking for its first regional appearance in program history. The other is looking for its first in more than a decade. It’s Livingston County Athletic Association and the Private-Parochial League for a spot in the state quarterfinals when Le Roy and Bishop Kearney/Chesterton meet Monday night when the teams meet in the Class B Far West Regional Qualifier. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Bishop Kearney/Chesterton defeated Red Creek (93-51) and East Rochester (62-59) to clinch a spot in the B2 championship, where it won 82-58 over Canisteo-Greenwood. Le Roy beat Livonia 58-47 in the Class B1 quarterfinals before taking down Waterloo 53-45 in the semifinals to clinch a spot in the B1 title game. The Oatkan Knights went on to win 58-50 over Mynderse to win the sectional title.

History 101: A win would give Bishop Kearney/Chesterton its first regional appearance since 2013 and the seventh in Kings’ program history. Bishop Kearney’s last regional appearance was a part of a run to the NYS Class AA title. Le Roy is coming off its second sectional championship in program history and first since 2003. A win would clinch the Oatkan Knights a spot in the Far West Regional for the first time.
