
Braelyn Isaman garnered her second straight Tournament MVP en route to Keshequa’s second sectional title in a row while AJ Orr earned her second consecutive MVP as Aquinas completed the three-peat as sectional champions. Kylie Clement (Webster Schroeder), Sophia Frayne (Canandaigua), Emerson Wandtke (Our Lady of Mercy), Gwyn Panek (Waterloo), Bailey Caton (LeRoy), Payton Bentley (Canisteo-Greenwood) and Sofia Falleti (Notre Dame-Batavia) each received All-Tournament MVP honors, Section V Girls’ Basketball announced.
Orr netted 12 of her game-high 30 points in the fourth quarter to lift Aquinas (NYSSWA Class AAA No. 24) to its third straight sectional championship with a 59-52 victory over Fairport (NYSSWA Class AAA No. 20). The senior also finished with 14 points and five steals in the Li’l Irish’s 47-40 victory against Bishop Kearney in the semifinals as Orr averaged 22 points a game to earn Class AAA Tournament MVP.


Clement finished with 18 points including 11 in the first half as Webster Schroeder (NYSSWA Class AA No. 7) opened up a five-point halftime lead it did not relinquish for its second sectional title in four years with a 58-51 win over Penfield (NYSSWA Class AA No. 4). In the semifinals, the senior scored 13 points with six coming in the first quarter as the Warriors jumped out to a quick 12-3 lead it kept the rest of the way for a 56-42 victory over Hilton. During the postseason run, Clement averaged 15.5 points per game to garner her first Class AA1 Tournament MVP.

Frayne dropped a game-high 25 points and blocked four shots as Canandaigua pulled off the 43-34 upset over top-seeded Pittsford Sutherland (NYSSWA Class AA No. 2). In the semifinals, the Gray Wolves edged out Pittsford Mendon 43-42 as Frayne earned her Class AA2 Tournament MVP, the first of her career.


Wandtke netted 16 of her game-high 20 points in the second half to lead Our Lady of Mercy (NYSSWA Class A No. 20) to its 11th sectional title in a 54-35 victory against Honeoye Falls Lima. The freshman netted 14 points and hauled in seven rebounds including nine points in the final 16 minutes as the Monarchs upset top-seeded East 56-44. Wandtke averaged 17 points per game during the playoffs to earn her first Class A Tournament MVP.

Panek posted a game-high 20 points with seven coming in the opening three minutes as Waterloo (NYSSWA Class B No. 8) used a 24-0 first quarter to cruise to the Class B1 title against top-seeded Dansville 58-24 (NYSSWA Class B No. 16). In the semifinals, the junior scored five of her 10 points in the final eight minutes to lift the Tigers to a 43-40 victory over Hornell. Panek averaged 15 points per game en route to Waterloo’s 11th sectional championship to earn Class B1 Tournament MVP.


Caton notched six of her team-high 12 points in overtime to lift LeRoy to its second sectional title with a 50-42 victory over Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg. The sophomore chipped in eight points in the Oatkan Knights 44-37 win against Marcus Whitman as Caton averaged 10 points per game to earn her first Class B2 Tournament MVP.


Trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, Bentley scored 13 of her game-high 22 points in the third quarter, knocking down three triples along the way to erase the deficit and lift Canisteo-Greenwood with a 66-61 victory over Bloomfield for its first sectional title (NYSSWA Class C No. 19). The senior posted eight of her team-high 14 points in the opening eight minutes in the semifinals to lead the Chargers to a 46-36 win against top-seeded Letchworth (NYSSWA Class C No. 17). Bentley averaged 18 points a game to garner her first Class C1 Tournament MVP.

Isaman posted a 22-point, 16-rebound double-double along with four assists, four steals and two blocks to lead Keshequa (NYSSWA Class C No. 7) to its 10th sectional championship in a 49-43 win over Oakfield-Alabama (NYSSWA Class C No. 6). The junior finished with another double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds along with six assists, three steals and two blocks Keshequa’s semifinal victory over York 64-61 (NYSSWA Class C No. 23). Isaman averaged 16.5 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, 3.5 steals and two blocks in the postseason run to earn her second straight Class C2 Tournament MVP.


Falleti scored 10 points in the final as Notre Dame Batavia (NYSSWA Class D No. 7) defeated Elba (NYSSWA Class D No. 8) 49-35 for its second title in three years and 13th overall. In the semifinals, the junior notched a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds and dished out two assists as the Fighting Irish cruised to a 53-35 victory over Charles G. Finney (NYSSWA Class D No. 10). Falleti averaged 17 points a game to garner her first Class D Tournament MVP.
