One program is looking for its ninth sectional title in program history while the other goes for its 11th. Monroe County Division IV meets the Private-Parochial League when Honeoye Falls-Lima and Our Lady of Mercy face off on Saturday to crown a Section V Class A champion. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Honeoye Falls-Lima cruised past No. 6 Palmyra-Macedon (44-33) and No. 2 Newark (52-50) to advance to the championship. Our Lady of Mercy defeated No. 5 YWCP/EMHCS (69-46) and No. 1 East (56-44) to make a finals appearance.

History 101: Honeoye Falls-Lima has eight sectional blocks in its trophy case with the most recent coming in 2017 when the Cougars topped Wilson Magnet for the A2 title. Mercy’s last championship also came in 2017. That year, the Monarchs beat Bishop Kearney in the AA championship. Mercy has 10 sectional championships heading into Saturday’s matchup.
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class A quarterfinals against the Section VI champion, either Lakeshore or Depew.
