It looked like Hilton’s first-ever trip to a Section V hockey final would be over almost as soon as it started.  Just 12 seconds into the game, Pittsford’s Kelan Ahern was left alone in front of the net, and the top-seeded Panthers were up 1-0 before the Zamboni had a chance to get to its parking spot.

Hilton tied the game on a goal by Mason Knight only to see Pittsford regain the lead before the end of the first.

After that, it was all Cadets.

Nine minutes into the second, Jayden Teetsel snapped home a one-timer to even the game.

Heading to the third, it was Hilton’s turn to strike early.  Less than two minutes had gone off the clock when Liam Porter’s wrist shot from the right face-off circle found the back of the net for what proved to be the winning goal.  Hunter Hutteman scored later in the period and then added an empty-netter to close out the game with a 5-2 win.

Lennon Suplicki turned aside 32 shots in goal for the Cadets, who move on to the regional round this Saturday.
