Friday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Paddock, Wilson lead No. 6 Le Roy to Class B2 finals; Hart drops 24 to lead Webster Schroeder

CLASS AA1 

No. 8 BRIGHTON (6-16) 35
No. 1 PENFIELD (19-1) 76
Alivia Duckles dropped 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first half to help Penfield outscore Brighton 46-14 through 16 minutes of action. The freshman hit four times from the floor including two 3-pointers as the Patriots advanced to the Class AA1 semifinals. Adriana Ferraro followed scoring 11 of her 14 points in the first half. Bayleigh Freid connected on three triples and ended with 13 points. Reegan Sercu recorded 12 points including two treys. Nina McVean scored nine points. Bella Cohoon (6), Riley Corcoran (4) and Meghan Quigley (2) rounded out the scoring for Penfield. Anna Miller led Brighton with nine points while Lily Zimmermann with eight points. Delaney Wilson dropped seven points. Grace Papponetti (3), Riley Lawrence (3), Sara Solomon (3) and Veronica Smolock (2) rounded out the scoring for the Bruins. Penfield will advance to the Class AA1 semifinals to battle against No. 4 Victor on Monday, March 2. 

No. 7 IRONDEQUOIT (9-13) 33
No 2 WEBSTER SCHROEDER (20-1) 56
Kenyatta Hart recorded 18 of her game-leading 24 points in the first half as Webster Schroeder outscored Irondequoit 35-21. The eighth grader connected on eight shots all from within the arc alongside a 2-for-5 performance at the free throw line as the Warriors cruised to the Class AA1 semifinals. Avery Kroening followed scoring seven of her 13 points in the second quarter. Kylie Clement added six points while Olivia DeMitry added five. Brielle McCauley (2), Bray Drechsler (2), Jenna DiMarco (2) and Lauren Roberts (2) closed out the scoring for Webster Schroeder. London Thomas led Irondequoit with eight points while Samantha Seymour added six points. Shannon Seymour scored four points. Taylor Morse and Anna Dean scored three points apiece. Elena Lamanna (2), Molly McGahan (2) and Lila Velepec (1) closed out the scoring for the Eagles. Webster Schroeder will advance to the Class AA1 semifinals to face No. 3 Hilton on Monday, March 2.

Amiyah Miles connected on 13 of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter as Hilton outscored Wilson/Early College 29-0. Maddie Murphy followed with 11 points as the Cadets advanced to the Class AA1 semifinals. Paige Dean and Selah Spry each finished with nine points. Jayleigh Esposito added eight points. Avery Anne recorded six points. Ally Starwald (4), Sam Korzenieski (4), Ally Bell (2) and Taylor Anne (1) rounded out the scoring for the Cadets. Hilton will advance to the Class AA1 semifinals to face No. 2 Webster Schroeder on Monday, March 2.

No. 5 SPENCERPORT (10-11) 46
No. 4 VICTOR (13-7) 58

Vanessa Chumacero led all scorers with 18 points to help Victor advance to the Class AA1 semifinals. Maddie Lennon followed with 11 points while Kelly Wightman added 10 points. Jorja Gray paced Spencerport with 14 points, becoming the Rangers’ all-time leading scorer. Victor will advance to the Class AA1 semifinals to battle against No. 1 Penfield on Monday, March 2.

CLASS AA2

No. 7 GATES CHILI (4-17) 30
No. 2 PITTSFORD MENDON (17-4) 61
Eva Dixon dropped 12 of her game-high 23 points in the first half to help Pittsford Mendon establish a 33-19 lead it never relinquished. Dixon drained four shots including two threes and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line as the Vikings grabbed a tickret to the Class AA2 semifinals. Dixon also grabbed 10 steals for a double-double and six rebounds. Lenna Mobeen followed with 18 points, recording at least four points in every quarter. Mobeen also grabbed nine rebounds. Addy Stewart scored 11 points. Lillian Larimer (6), Kendall Glantz (2) and Camryn Hernick (1) rounded out the scoring for Pittsford Mendon. Hayden Byer led all Gates Chili scorers with nine points. Payton Kretser followed with seven while Evelyn Amesbury added five. Alison Amesbury ended with three points. Makenna Clark (2), Mia Torres (2) and Cassie Carpenter (2) closed out the scoring for Gates Chili. Pittsford Mendon will advance to the Class AA2 semifinals to battle against No. 3 Canandaigua on Monday, March 2.

No. 6 BROCKPORT (6-15) 21
No. 3 CANANDAIGUA (16-5) 52

Canandaigua led 21-14 with just under six minutes left in the third quarter when the offense finally started to find a groove. A 12-1 run midway through the third quarter helped the Gray Wolves seize control of the game. Brennan cited a small change in the gameplan at halftime helped spark the scoring outburst while the defense was still generating pressure and missed shots. READ MORE.

No. 4 EASTRIDGE (12-9) 55

Leading 13-12 after the first quarter, Qa’Mariona Greene opened the second with a 3-pointer from the right wing. Kenya Scott followed with a rebound and putback, and Aalviah Green turned a steal into a layup. READ MORE.

No. 4 WILLIAMSON/MARION (15-7) 33
No. 1 DANSVILLE (19-3) 37

Taylor Hamsher dropped a team-high 13 points to help Dansville advance to the Class B1 finals. Colleen Metcalfe followed with nine points while Samantha O’Connor added eight points. Allison O’Connor (4) and Morgan Ball (3) closed out the scoring for the Mustangs. Georgie Alexander paced Williamson/Marion with a game-high 14 points. Njalula Mulowayi ended with 13 points. Dansville will advance to the Class B1 finals where they will face No. 2 Waterloo on Wednesday, March 4 at Finger Lakes Community College.

No. 3 HORNELL (16-6) 40
No. 2 WATERLOO (17-5) 43

Addison Bree scored seven of her team-high 12 points in the fourth quarter when Waterloo erased a nine-point deficit and went on to clinch a spot in the Class B1 finals. Trailing 30-21, Bree connected twice from the floor and converted 3-of-6 free throws over the final eight minutes when the Tigers used a 22-10 advantage to win their eighth straight game. Gwyn Panek added five of her 10 points in the fourth quarter. Jonay Hawkins (8), Khia Moody (6), Tangel Williams (4) and Delaney Battin (3) also scored in the win. Waterloo advanced to the Class B1 finals where they will battle No. 1 Dansville on Wednesday, March 4 at Finger Lakes Community College. Hornell’s Jordyn Dyring hit three 3-pointers in the third to stake the three-time reigning champions to a 30-21 lead after three quarters of play. Dyring, who came into the night with 1,677 career points, scored a game-high 18 for the Red Raiders. Raegan Evingham added nine. Mia Nasca (5), Selena Maldonado (4), Teegan Eveland (2) and Hendrickson (2) rounded out the scoring.

CLASS B2

No. 4 EAST ROCHESTER (11-10) 27
No. 1 CUBA-RUSHFORD/BOLIVAR-RICHBURG (16-6) 35

Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg will advance to the Class B2 finals where they will face No. 6 Le Roy on Wednesday, March 4 at Finger Lakes Community College.

No. 6 LE ROY (13-10) 44
No. 2 MARCUS WHITMAN (14-8) 37
Entering the fourth quarter down 29-27, Madison Paddock dropped six of her 12 points as Le Roy outscored Marcus Whitman 17-8. Paddock connected on two shots and went 2-for-4 at the free throw line as Le Roy advanced to the Class B2 finals. Kylie Wilson also recorded 12 points including one 3-pointer. Bailey Caton and Makenna Gallo both finished with eight points. Cora Weaver rounded out the scoring for the Knights with four points. Aliysiah Clark paced Marcus Whitman with a game-high 13 points in the efforts. Sophia Snyder also reached double-digits with 11 points. Cecilia Conley scored six points. Evelyn Royston (4) and Whitney Cotroneo (3) also scored for the Wildcats. Le Roy will advance to the Class B2 finals where they will face No. 1 Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg on Wednesday, March 4 at Finger Lakes Community College.
