The 2026 Section V Class A Girls’ Basketball bracket features four teams from Finger Lakes East, three more from the Private-Parochial League and two teams each from Rochester City Athletic Conference and Monroe County IV. First-round matchups tip off on Wednesday, February 25 as the final two teams from Class A battle on Saturday, March 7 at Finger Lakes Community College.

After losing in the Class A semifinals to Pittsford Sutherland, East High finished the season at the top seed for a second season in a row with a 15-4 record. The Lady Eagles closed out their season winning 10 of their last 11 matchups, including six wins by 20 or more points. Newark enters the Class A tournament coming off a 25-point victory to close out its regular season with an 18-2 record. The Reds climbed all the way to the Class A finals in 2025 as the No. 6 seed before falling to Pittsford Sutherland in the championship 61-45.

Honeoye Falls-Lima grabbed the No. 3 seed with a 13-7 record, winning their last two matchups by double-digits. No. 4 seeded Our Lady of Mercy rolled in with a 11-9 record including a 26-point victory in their last matchup. No. 5 seeded YWCP/EMHCS finished its season with a 11-8 record and three straight wins. A new champion will be crowned as Pittsford Sutherland, the reigning champs of Class A, made the move to Class AA2. Here’s the Breakdown:

No. 11 Geneva (2-18) @ No. 6 Palmyra-Macedon (10-10)

No. 10 Batavia (2-16) @ No. 7 School of the Arts (7-12)

No. 9 Rochester Prep (3-16) @ No. 8 Wayne (7-13)

QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS:

Winner of Rochester Prep/Wayne @ No. 1 East (15-4)

Winner of Batavia/School of the Arts @ No. 2 Newark (18-2)

Winner of Geneva/Palmyra-Macedon @ No. 3 Honeoye Falls-Lima (13-7)

No. 5 YWCP/EMHCS (11-8) @ No. 4 Our Lady of Mercy (11-9)
