Saturday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Bellamy and Milillo record double-doubles in Letchworth win; Mobeen and Dixon tandem combine for 48 points to lead Pittsford Mendon

Darianna Weathers scored 13 of her game-high 28 points in the first quarter when East opened a 19-8 lead and went on to win for the fourth time in five games. Weathers connected five times from the floor including one 3-pointer and converted 2-of-2 free throws in the opening eight minutes. Semaj Jackson added 19 points with 10 rebounds in the win. Madison Simmons (5), Ta’majaha Lenear (2) and Layla Germany (3) also scored for East. Denari Langston led Bishop Kearney with 19 points. Maya Cong accounted for 12 points. Sureya Fernandez (9), Tamia McCadney (3), Isabella Brookins (8) and Jane Witkoski (3) rounded out the scoring for Kearney.

Amelia Sloan finished with 11 points including the go-ahead bucket with 14 seconds remaining as Hilton erased a 13-point deficit for back-to-back wins. Sloan converted on a baseline out-of-bounds play to to give the Cadets their first lead since a 3-2 edge early in the game. Sloan also grabbed six rebounds in the win. Sophomore Amiyah Miles led Hilton with 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jayleigh Esposito scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers. Ava Heise added 13 points and five assists. Taylor Anne (6), Ally Starwald (4), and Selah Spry (4) also scored for Hilton. Victor’s Vanessa Chumacero led all scorers with 21 points. Grace Janczak had 16 points while Allie Pisano (13) and Madison Lennon scored 13 and 11 points respectively. Kelly Wightman (8) and Lillian Stewart (2) rounded out the scoring for the Blue Devils who led 27-14 heading into the second quarter.

Leena Mobeen scored 25 points, and Eva Dixon had 23 as Pittsford Mendon won its fifth straight game. Mobeen and Dixon combined for 27 points in the first half to give the Vikings a 40-21 lead. Lillian Larimer (8), Kendall Glantz (7), Addy Stewart (4), Suriya Gandhi (4), Ella Pickels (3), and Camryn Hernick (3) all scored for the Vikings. For Gates Chili, Hayden Byer led with 19 points. Payton Kretser (9), Sarah LoSavio (8), Isabella Braid (2), Cassie Carpenter (3) and Taisiia Rozhevenko (2) rounded out the scoring for the Spartans.

Brea Smith registered a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds for Elba in its fifth straight win. Lydia Ross recorded 19 points and six assists, while Ava Buczek had 13 points and six assists. Brynn Stackhouse and Maddie Lowe also contributed with eight points apiece.

Sasha Bellamy and Annika Milillo both recorded a double-double to lead Letchworth to its fifth straight victory. Bellamy finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Milillo had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Maya Bellamy tallied 13 points, while Gillian Kemp had five points and 10 rebounds. Charity Scott scored 10 points while Kendall Jines registered four points and four steals. Lilly DeRock and McKenna Krist both recorded a point each. The double-digit victory was the ninth this season for the Legends. Gananda’s top scorer was Avery Hoffman with 10 points. Leah Buffan (9), Maggie McGarvey (5), Emily Buffan (4), Sam Dohse (3) and Raegan Quigley (2) also scored for Gananda.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this group of girls and their toughness, tenacity, and resilience,” Letchworth head coach Chad DeRock said via email. “They have a phenomenal team-first mentality and work hard for each other. They love to see their teammates succeed.  Today is a great example.  Four girls in double digits scoring, three girls with double digits in rebounds. This was a great win versus a tough and well-coached Gananda team.”

CANISTEO-GREENWOOD (11-1) 82
Mackenna Mullen scored 17 points in Canisteo-Greenwood’s fifth straight win. Mullen’s six-point second quarter capped a 41-point first half for the Chargers. Kara Mahany and Anna Mitchell recorded 13 points each. Mahany also tallied five steals. Bailey Mullen had 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Mullen scored nine of her points in the third quarter. Peyton Bentley scored all eight of her points in the first half, with six of them coming in the first quarter and four points coming off free throws. Bentley also had six rebounds. Grace Mahany (8), Paris May (6), Harlie McCaffery (4), and Lyla Greenfield (3) all contributed for Canisteo-Greenwood on offense.

MOUNT MORRIS (8-3) 35 (F/OT)
Addyson Barnhardt scored 18 points to lead Mount Morris which used a 6-2 advantage in overtime to win its third straight game and fifth in the past six. Mount Morris, after facing a 12-3 deficit at the end of the first quarter, outscored Pavilion 14-2 to take a 17-14 lead into halftime. Kennedy Canary (7), Olivia Kaiser (4), Alivia Piraino (3), Bella Oddo (2), and Adrianna Mann (1) also scored for the Blue Devils. Emma Tillotson led Pavilion with 12 points. Charlotte Rudgers (7), Mia Gilkes (5), Bre Palmer (2), Natalie Nichiporuk (2) and Mollie McMaster (3) also scored for the Golden Gophers.

LIMA-CHRISTIAN (2-6) 27
Laura Hall dropped 28 points as Jasper-Troupsburg won for the eighth time in 10 games. Leah Lawson scored 18 points in the win. Other scorers for the Wildcats included Keira Marsh (5), Avary Cornell (4), and Brooklyn Button (2). For Lima-Christian, Alyssa Marsh led the Saints with 21 points.
