Friday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Rodwell earns tournament MVP honors for York; Natale scores 27 to lead Newark

Kylie Clement recorded 11 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter to help Webster Schroeder jump out to a 20-6 lead through eight minutes. Clement connected on eight shots including a lone three while finishing 3-for-3 at the free throw line. Avery Kroening added 13 points while Kenyatta Hart added 11 points. Olivia Fulkerson recorded all six of her points in the second quarter. Jenna DiMarco (5), Lauren Roberts (2) and Bray Drechsler (2) also scored for the Warriors. Olivia Bommelje led Webster Thomas with seven points. Nevaeh Archibald recorded one triple. Olivia Constantino (3), Olivia Pelton (2) and Tamaya Fox (2) rounded out the scoring for the Titans.

Eva Monoski paced Fairport with 14 points while netting four three pointers to lead the Red Raiders to five straight wins. Samantha Rizzo added 11 points in the fourth quarter which included three 3-ponters. Emerson Wandkte finished the game with 11 points to lead Our Lady of Mercy. Laura Kosten added nine points for the Monarchs.

Bailey Cooper led Penn Yan with a game-high 16 points en route to back-to-back wins. Mady Pierce followed with six points while Sofia Montaño added five. Makenna Mullins (3), Abby Fischer (2) and Morgan Breuer (2) also scored for Penn Yan. Jaden Dunbar led Wellsville with eight points. Caelyn Stevens and Emily Stuck both finished the game with seven points. Hailey Cowburn closed out the scoring for Wellsville with one point.

Samantha O’Connor led Dansville with a 20-point and 10-rebound double-double in the Mustangs’ third straight road win. The eighth grader also grabbed three steals and two blocks on defense. Colleen Metcalfe also scored double digits with 10 points. Morgan Ball recorded seven points, two assists and two steals while Kassidy Cole added seven points, five rebounds and one assist. Taylor Hamsher added four points, six steals and two assists. Pavilion’s Emma Tillotson led the team with 12 points.

GATES CHILI TOURNAMENT

Karina Natale recorded a game-high 27 points to help Newark advance with a win in the Gates Chili Tournament. Natale also recorded four assists to lead the team. Sophia Delfs and Martianna Chance both ended with eight points. Delfs added five rebounds. Arizona Chapple contributed four points, 10 rebounds, six steals and four blocks. Adrianna Smith (5), Khloe Paul (2) and Bella Landrau (2) rounded out the scoring for Newark. The Reds will face Honeoye Falls-Lima in Saturday’s championship game.

HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (6-0) 57
GATES CHILI (0-5) 35
Shaye Angelo dropped 21 points alongside six steals to help Honeoye-Falls Lima claim back-to-back wins by 20-plus points. Alysa Richards finished the game with 12 points and five assists. Richards connected on three treys. Sarah Smith added a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Allison Amesbury led Gates Chili with 14 points. 

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT 

YORK (6-0) 52 
CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (2-6) 22
Tessa Rodwell paced York with a game-high 21 points to help win the Caledonia-Mumford Holiday Tournament. Rodwell also received the honor of tournament MVP. Bree Parsons followed with 12 points while Tessa Goodell recorded nine. Fiona Grant finished with seven points and Leah Cuozzo finished with three. Parsons and Grant were both named to the all-tournament team. Olivia Amorese and Leigh Nickerson both led Caledonia-Mumford with 11 points apiece. Amorese and Nickerson both received all-tournament team honors.
