Saturday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Putnam’s MVP performance leads Avoca-Prattsburgh; Williams scores 14 at home to keep Oakfield-Alabama undefeated

Shelby Geer netted a game-high 21 points to lead Palmyra-Macedon. Geer connected on seven 3-pointers to account for all of her scoring. The junior hit five from distance in the opening quarter to stake the Red Raiders to a 21-7 lead. Addison Blair added 16 in the win, and Julia Belanger had 12. Liliana Stephens (5), Gabriella Leone (5) and Georgia Wirth (2) also scored. Ninth-grader Ja’Niyah Bell led Lyons with 14 pts, 21 rebounds, five assists, five steals and a block. Senior Kamryn Bonnell added 16 points. Car’Mella Parker had 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks.
Addison Jones added two points.

WATKINS GLEN CENTRAL (IV) 49
Aliysiah Clark hit a pair of 3-pointers as part of a 15-point effort to lead Marcus Whitman. Maddie Daggett added 11. Evy Royston (3) and Sophie Snyder (5) also scored.

COWANESQUE VALLEY (PA) 18
DUNDEE/BRADFORD (3-3) 55
Danica Hall accounted for 12 points, leading Dundee/Bradford in a home victory, outscoring Cowanesque Valley 25-8 in the first half and 20-5 in the third quarter. Korrin Yeoman (10), Reese Simpson (8), Carsen Larrison (8), Riley Stinson (6), Meredith Doan (4), Piper Simpson (4), and Madalyn Knapp (3) were also the top scorers for the BraveScots. 

AVOCA-PRATTSBURGH (5-1) 54
HAVERLING (1-3) 29
Tournament MVP Meyah Putnam finished with 24 points to lead Avoca-Prattsburgh in the Coaches vs. Cancer championship. Putnam connected five times from the floor and converted 6-of-9 free throws in the first half when the Titans jumped out to a 32-12 lead. Evelyn Travis posted a double-double for Avoca-Prattsburgh with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. D’Mariannah Hinson-Pike (6), AJ McIntyre (5), Charlotte Peck (4) and Payton Hopkins (4) also scored for A-P. Sierra Haight and Abigail Whaley scored 10 apiece to pace Haverling. Aleah Binkowski (6), Ally Prescott (2) and Natalie Williams (1) also scored.

LETCHWORTH (6-1) 40
OAKFIELD-ALABAMA (5-0) 52
Allie Williams led with 14 points, and Oakfield-Alabama won for the fifth time at home this season. Other top scorers were Alexa Clark (13), Hadley Hicks (12), Allison Harkness (5), Raine Denny (3), Chloe Luttrell/Harper Hicks (2), and Journey Ohlson (1). After going into the second quarter down 14-10, Oakfield-Alabama responded by outscoring Letchworth 14-1 to take a 24-15 lead going into halftime. Alexa Clark (11), Hadley Hicks (8), and Allie Williams (5) led the Hornets in rebounds. Sasha Bellamy scored 13 to lead Letchworth. Charity Scott (11), Annika Milillo (10) and Maya Bellamy (6) also contributed to the offense.

Mariah Matias led Elmira with 26 points in an overtime victory. Meya Smith also scored 17 points for the Express. Down six points with less than two minutes to play, tied it to force overtime and would later win by three points.
