Weekend Section V Hockey Wrap: Benham and Pilgrim tally four points for Greece Storm; Laney records a shutout for Batavia Notre Dame

FRIDAY’S GAMES

WFL PANTHERS (6-0-0) 5
CHURCHVILLE-CHILI (2-5-0) 2
Liam Kivimaki and Ryan Allen both collected three points to help keep the WFL Panthers undefeated. Kivimaki scored two goals and tallied one assist while Allen registered three helpers. Graham Mauchly and William Hand both scored a power play goal and recorded an assist. Joe Walsh Also found the back of the net for the Panthers. Cooper Lass scored both for Churchville-Chili with the man-advantage. Brody Gallagher and Grayson Galliford assisted on Lass’ second power play tally.

GREECE STROM (3-5-0) 4
CANANDAIGUA (2-7-0) 1
Chase Benham and Wyatt Pilgrim tallied four points apiece to help Greece Storm bounce back from a defeat in their last contest. Both Benham and Pilgrim found the back of the net twice and collected two assists. Benham’s second goal was an empty-net-short-handed goal. Alex Rink chipped in two helpers while Trever Griffin registered one of his own. Gavin Nemitz scored the lone goal for Canandaigua with an assist from Arthur Fuller.

BRIGHTON/HFL/EASTRIDGE/GANANDA (0-5-1) 1
LIVINGSTON LAKERS (0-6-1) 1 OT
A third period goal helped Brighton/HFL/Eastridge/Gananda tie with the Livingston Lakers. After a scoreless first period, Levi Rene broke the scoreless tie for the Lakers with his first varsity goal with an assist from Nolan Bannister. Brayden Nodar tied the game in the third period with assists from Ethan Flannery and Patrick Rohr. Both team’s penalty kills were a perfect 3-for-3.

FAIRPORT (2-3-1) 5
Thomas Pane led the Fairport with a three point performance to help them win back-to-back contests. Pane scored twice and recorded an assist. Jack Gosiewski, Liam ODonnell, and Corey Rene all found the back of the net for the Red Raiders. Garrett Martin collected two helpers while Marc Hillier recorded one of his own. Jack Abbott scored the lone Victor goal short-handed.

WEBSTER THOMAS (3-3-1) 3
PENFIELD (2-3-1) 3 OT
Jackson Bernier led the Webster Thomas offense with two goals. One of Bernier’s goals came on the power play. Cam Hall collected a goal and an assist. Nathan Scheirer and Aiden Paul both recorded a helper.

Blake Laney stopped all 26 shots he faced to help Batavia Notre Dame rebound from a defeat in their last contest. All three of the United’s goals came in the third period. Alex Wyder opened the scoring with his first varsity goal on the power play with an assist from Jonah Motyka. Cade Shamp scored the next goal unassisted. Joe Barnes tallied his first varsity goal with an empty netter to help seal the deal for Batavia Notre Dame.

WEBSTER SCHROEDER (6-0-0) 3
GREECE STROM (3-6-0) 2
Webster Schroeder erased a 2-0 second period deficit to stay unbeaten. After a scoreless first period, Trever Griffin scored back-to-back unassisted goals nine seconds apart to give the Greece Storm a multi-goal lead. Early in the third period, Aiden Spakoski cut the Storm’s lead in half with an assist from Tyler Splain. Nick Johnson tied the contest with help from Connor Scott for Webster Schroeder. Anthony Pusateri Scored the game-winning tally unassisted to complete the comeback for the Warriors.

SPARTAN HOCKEY (4-2-0) 2
Samuel Schultz scored the lone goal for the Portside Royals with assists from Zachary Haines and Andrew Lamberton.

Nathan Zimmerman stopped all 30 shots he faced to help keep the WFL Panthers undefeated. Ryan Allen scored both goals for the Panthers unassisted. Both tallies came in the third period. Joel Reeves made 30 saves in net for Irondequoit.

Cooper Lass found the back of the net twice for Churchville-Chili. Brody Gallagher also scored for the Saints.
