Tuesday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: HAC’s Brecker grabs 1,000th rebound, adds career-highs in points and blocks; Angelo scores 31 for Honeoye Falls-Lima

After a tie game through 24 minutes, Rush Henrietta’s Estara Roberts-Crawford scored four of her 12 points in the final quarter to help the Royal Comets grab a 12-0 advantage in the frame. Roberts-Crawford converted six times inside the arc. Ava Gill followed with 11 points, converting on two makes and finishing 7-for-12 at the free throw line. Kyla Piedici added eight points and converted on one shot from beyond the arc. Leah Taddesse scored all five of her points in the second half. Julianna Goff (2), Aleecia Outlaw (2) and Grace Gurung (2) closed out the scoring for Rush-Henrietta. GiGi Williams led Greece Arcadia/Olympia with nine points while Kanii Betts followed with seven. Both Ja’Nyah Reaves and Jenelle Staples ended the game with six points apiece. Alexis Supernault (3), Samara Quintana (3) and Lily Walker (2) also scored for the Lightning.

Maddie Murphy paced Hilton with 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals in the win. Amiyah Miles scored 17 points, connecting on four 3-pointers. Both Amelia Sloan and Jayleigh Esposito also scored double digits with 11 points and 10 points respectively. Ally Starwald, Selah Spry and Paige Dean each finished with seven points. Ava Heise (3) and Taylor Anne (2) also scored for Hilton.

Webster Schroeder’s Kenyatta Hart dropped a double-double with a game-high 19 points to pair with 14 rebounds in the road win. The eighth grader connected on nine shots inside of the arc as well as a 1-for-2 performance at the free throw line. Hart also finished the game with five blocks. Avery Kroening added seven of her 15 points in the second quarter to outscore Brighton 18-5 in that frame. Kroening also recorded five assists. Kylie Clement ended the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jenna DiMarco (4) and Lauren Roberts (4) also scored for the Warriors. Riley Lawrence scored all her eight points in the final quarter to lead Brighton’s offense. Anna Miller and Lily Zimmermann both recorded seven points. Sara Solomon (6), Charlotte Goldfeder (4), Delaney Wilson (4) and Grace Papponetti (2) closed out the scoring for Brighton.

Shaye Angelo led Honeoye Falls-Lima with a game-high 31 points to go with seven rebounds and five steals as the Cougars won for the third time on the road. Alysa Richards scored the lead taking three pointer with 32 seconds left while Kam Burdette finished 3-for-4 at the free throw line in the final 30 seconds to close it out. Holly Smith and Sarah Smith both grabbed 11 rebounds apiece. Eva Dixon paced Pittsford Mendon with 27 points while Lena Mobene followed with 10.

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (3-0) 58

Lucy Bush led the way with 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists to lift Pittsford Sutherland on the road. Petra Hunt finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Taylor Hamilton also recorded 10 points. Lydia Childs paced Brockport’s attack with 13 points.

WEBSTER THOMAS (0-3) 16
Victor’s Vanessa Chumacero finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win. Addison Hopkins also recorded 16 points. The Blue Devils held Webster Thomas to two points in the second quarter to end the half up 42-9. Allie Pisano and Grace Janczak each added 15 points apiece. Olivia Constantino led Webster Thomas with five points.

IRONDEQUOIT (3-2) 37

Taylor Morse led Irondequoit with 14 points alongside six rebounds in the road win. London Thomas followed with nine points and seven rebounds. Shannon Seymour recorded a team-high 12 rebounds.

PENFIELD (3-0) 51
FAIRPORT (2-1) 45 F/OT

Senior Olivia Lanning and ninth-grader Jordan Rasmussen scored all 11 of Penfield’s points in overtime points as the Patriots took their first road win of the season. Fairport sophomore Leah Meabon scored on a step through layup with 3:30 left in the fourth quarter to give Fairport its biggest lead at 38-32. After a Jordan Rasmussen jumper made it a four-point game, Clara Shannon made two foul shots to give Fairport 40 – 34 advantage. Another Rasmussen jumper followed by lay-ups from Penfield seniors Reegan Sercu and Lanning ended regulation with the teams tied at 40-40. Shannon opened the scoring in overtime for Fairport with a layup, but two Rasmussen baskets and a Lanning three-point play iced the game for Penfield. Lanning led all scorers with 13 points. Sercu added 11 points. Rassmussen scored 10 of her 12 in the last three minutes of the game and overtime. Fairport sophomore Eva Monoski led the Red Raiders with 12 points

Emerson Wandtke scored seven of her game-high 15 points in the second quarter to help Our Lady of Mercy take a 34-8 lead at halftime. Wandtke connected six times from inside the arc and finished 3-for-5 at the charity stripe. The freshman also grabbed 14 rebounds for a double-double. Laura Kosten followed with 11 points, scoring at least two points in every quarter. Bridget Wise hit four shots and finished with nine points. Allison Barone nailed two triples in the first quarter. Madelyn Goetz (5) and Angelina Borrelli (4) also scored for the Monarchs.

Cadence Brecker scored a career-high 39 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, including her 1,000th career rebound to lead HAC to its fifth straight win by 10+ points. Brecker also added a career-high 17 blocks for a triple-double. Baylor Smith also reached double digits, adding 10 points. Gabby Giambra finished with nine points. Brooke Clement paced Honeoye with 12 points while Maren Tompkins recorded nine.

SOUTH SENECA (1-2) 36

Tori Scott paced South Seneca with 15 points alongside four steals in the Falcons first win on the season. Ashlyn Weatherby recorded eight points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

LYONS (3-0) 78
CLYDE-SAVANNAH (3-1) 54
Ja’Niyah Bell and Car’Mella Parker both scored 30 points apiece to pace Lyons in their third straight double-digit win. Bell finished the game with 17 rebounds, seven blocks, three assists and two steals while Parker added 16 rebounds, two assists and one steal. Both Bell and Parker connected on 12 shots from the field. Kamryn Bonnell followed recording 14 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals. Addison Jones pulled down 13 rebounds and added three points. Larissa Walters scored a team-high 18 points for Clyde-Savannah. Taylor Carnevale followed with 16 points and seven rebounds while Alexis Tohafjian added nine points and 20 rebounds. Bella Smart (4), Taylor Record (4) and Katie Cronin (2) closed out the scoring for the Golden Eagles. 

WAYLAND-COHOCTON (1-5) 11
HORNELL (4-0) 74
Jordyn Dyring scored 20 of her 29 points in the first eight minutes, lifting Hornell to a 33-0 lead. Dyring also recorded five rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Red Raiders. Raegan Evingham dropped a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds alongside eight steals and six assists. Teegan Eveland ended the game with 10 points, five rebounds and one assist while Selena Maldonado added nine points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Mia Nasca (8), A’Jonay Hawkins (4) and Ava Ryder (2) also scored for Hornell.
