Mid-week Section V Hockey Wrap: Grizzanti tallies hat trick for Hilton; Hudson delivers a shutout for Webster Schroeder

TUESDAY’S GAMES

SPARTAN HOCKEY (2-2-0) 1
GREECE STORM (2-4-0) 3
Chase Benham’s three-point performance helped the Greece Storm bounce back from a loss in their previous contest. Benham scored the last two goals for the Storm including an empty netter to seal the victory. Trever Griffin tied the game for Greece in the second period with help from Benham and Alex Rink. Stratos Triantafilou made 29 saves between the pipes for the Storm. Matt Turner scored the lone Spartan Hockey goal in the first period on the power play with assists from Wyatt Flannery and Nick Maslowski. Evan Farrell stopped 44 shots for the Spartans.

CHURCHVILLE-CHILI (1-3-0) 3
WEBSTER THOMAS (2-2-0) 6
Nathan Scheirer recorded four points to help Webster Thomas win back-to-back contests. Scheirer tallied a hat trick that included two power play goals and registered an assist. Lucas Nuccitelli collected three points with two goals and a helper. Aiden Paul scored on the power play as well for the Titans. Webster Thomas finished 3-for-4 with the man advantage. Brody Camp, Nate VanHeusen, Cam Hall, and Landon Quick all recorded an assist in the contest. Anthony Indiano led the Churchville-Chili offense with a two-goal effort. Brody Gallagher also found the back of the net for the Saints. Grayson Galliford, Evan Girolamo, and Joseph Pellegrino all registered a helper in the contest.

PITTSFORD (4-0-1) 9
BRIGHTON/HFL/EASTRIDGE/GANANDA (0-4-0) 0
Charles Hezel, Ryan Schmalstitch and Peter Yarovinsky each had three points to help Pittsford stay undefeated. Both Hezel, Schmalstitch and Yarovinsky all had a goal and two assists. Bear Wehrheim and Steffen Finke both scored their first two varsity goals for the Panthers. David Pollard recorded a goal and assist. Simon George also found the back of the net for Pittsford. Ryan Datovech and Nicholas Yarovinsky both registered his first two varsity points with two helpers. Max Erskine and Adam Pollard also recorded two assists in the contest. Ryan Munzinger, Anderson McHarg, and Ben Zombek each contributed a helper for the Panthers. David Jones stopped all 10 shots he faced in the contest.

LIVINGSTON LAKERS (0-1-0) 2
BATAVIA NOTRE DAME (2-3-0) 8
Will Stevens and Luke Staley led the Batavia Notre Dame offense with four point efforts. Stevens found the back of the net twice including once short handed and recorded two assists. Staley scored once and tallied three assists. Preston Viele recorded three points with a goal and two helpers for the United. Cade Shamp found the back of the net twice. Maggio Buchholz and Jonah Motyka both scored for Batavia Notre Dame on the power play. Eli Grice and Lucas Hoisington each collected an assist. Harrison Bruckel led the Livingston Lakers offense with a goal and an assist. Julien Hunnsinger scored a power play goal for the Lakers. Nolan Bannister recorded a helper.

CANANDAIGUA (1-5-0) 0
WEBSTER SCHROEDER (2-0-0) 6
Cole Hudson stopped all 11 shots he faced to help Webster Schroeder stay undefeated. Nick Johnson, Connor Scott, Anthony Pusateri, and AJ Gervaise all collected a goal and an assist for the Warriors. Johnny May and Blake Smith also found the back of the net in the contest. Tyler Splain, Aiden Spakoski, Nicholas Scott, Ryan Buttles, Van Bolten, and Drew Currey all chipped in a helper for Schroeder.

HILTON (2-1-1) 3
VICTOR (3-1-0) 0
Lucas Grizzanti scored a hat trick to help Hilton bounce back from a loss in its previous contest. Mason Knight, Hunter Hutteman, and Parker Smith assisted on Grizzanti’s tallies. Lennon Suplicki stopped all 26 shots he faced in the contest.

FAIRPORT (0-2-1) 5
IRONDEQUOIT (3-0-1) 6
Five straight goals helped Irondequoit stay undefeated. Douglas Velepec opened the contest scoring for the Eagles in the first period with assists from Matthew Parsons and Landon Bryan. Fairport scored the next four goals in the contest. Marc Hillier scored the first two goals with the first one coming unassisted and the second one with help from Jack Gosiewski and Will Colling. Colling’s assist was his first varsity point. Grant Ralston found the back of the net late in the first period on the power play with assists from Garrett Martin. Colin Shufelt put the Red Raiders up by three with an assist from Hillier. Parsons started the rally with assists from Spencer Roberts and Ryan Adams. Dylan Carey brought the Eagles within one with a power play goal with help from Bryan and Alex McLaughlin. Bryan tied the game for the Eagles in the second period with assists from McLaughlin and Velepec. Levi Powell scored his first varsity goal on the power play to give Irondequoit a 5-4 lead. Roberts and Parsons assisted on the go-ahead power play tally. Hunter Weisbeck added on an insurance goal with help from Roberts. Hillier completed the hat trick, unassisted to pull Fairport within one.

PENFIELD (2-2-0) 3
PORTSIDE ROYALS (0-3-1) 1
Two third-period goals helped Penfield put a stop to a two-game skid. Jace Wilkins opened the contest’s scoring for the Patriots in the first period with assists from Carson Welz. After a scoreless second, McAllister King doubled the Penfield lead early in the third period with help from Wesley Maksymiu. Anthony Ferris got the Portside Royals on the board a few minutes later with a power play goal with assists from Andrew Lamberton and Samuel Schultz. Owen Harris put the Patriots back up by two in the final minute of the game unassisted.

THURSDAY’S GAMES

AQUINAS (3-1-0) 4
CANANDAIGUA (1-6-0) 2
Anthony Conte led the Aquinas offense with a two-point effort. Conte scored a goal and registered an assist. Stevie Bell, Charlie Shannon and Caleb Wood all found the back of the net for the Li’l Irish.
