Tuesday Girls’ Basketball Wrap: Vargas guides Finney to season-opening win; Thomas leads Irondequoit with 13 points in varsity debut

Ninth-grader London Thomas led Irondequoit with a team-high 13 points to go along with seven rebounds and seven steals in her varsity debut. Ellie Bottiglier also finished with double-digit points, adding 10 for the Eagles. Taylor Morse contributed nine points to pair with 10 rebounds.

Making her varsity debut, ninth-grader Ava Gill finished with a team-high 19 points to lead Rush-Henrietta. Fellow classmate Estara Roberts-Crawford added 18 points in the win. Aniyah Eldridge led East Rochester with 22 points.

Lainey Vargas scored eight of her game-high 14 points in the second half to help secure the first win of the season for Charles G Finney whcih closed the game on an 11-0 run. Vargas connected from the floor four times including three threes and went 3-for-4 at the free throw line. Lucy Broome finished with 11 points including a game-high five makes at the stripe. Kiley Knittle nailed two threes and finished with eight points. Amelia McIntyre (4) and Kate Frederickson (4) rounded out the scoring for Charles G Finney. Taylor Bailey led Red Creek with 12 points. Jada Brown ended with 10 points. Ryleigh Holiday (4) and Madison Leszcynski (4) closed out the scoring for the Rams.
