Biehler, Wood, Drake and Shamp receive top Monroe County Girls’ Soccer honors

Savanna Biehler led Fairport to its fifth sectional title in six years and their third straight Class AAA title. Churchville-Chili’s Tessa Wood guided the Saints to their first Class AA crown in over 20 years, breaking Spencerport’s streak of nine straight championships in the finals. Haley Drake helped Greece Athena win the Monroe County Division III title and Ella Shamp led Batavia to the sectional semifinals. These four student-athletes earned Player of the Year honors for their respective divisions as announced by Monroe County coaches.

Biehler (Fairport) led the Red Raiders to a 11-5-1 record adding 26 goals and three assists for a total of 29 points to earn the Division I Player of the Year bid. The senior finished with five hat tricks on the season, including a five-goal effort in a 5-3 win over Brighton on Sept. 15 and a game winning goal to help beat Irondequoit 1-0 on Oct. 9. Biehler also helped Fairport earn their third straight Class AAA title in a 2-0 win versus Rush-Henrietta.

Joining Biehler on the Division I First-Team are teammates Eliana Biehler and Addison Tally. Webster Schroeder’s Kylie Clement, Emma Rascoe, Brynn Zoltoski and Lola Wambach garnered First-Team honors alongside Lyla Schenck, Sadie Sullivan and Macy McFarland for Penfield. Ella Perkins and Haiden Lagueres both received the bid for Hilton while Victor’s Lila Kubrich and Grace Janczek also got recognized. Closing out the Division I First-Team is Natalie Wood from Rush-Henrietta.

Wood (Churchville-Chili) led the Saints defensively as she collected 123 saves across the season and only allowed 18 goals en route to Churchville-Chili’s first sectional title since 2004 and a state finals appearance. The senior goalkeeper ended with 11 shutouts on the season which included three sectional matchups and two state matchups. Wood saved seven shots in a 3-0 shutout against Brockport on Sept. 23. In the state semifinals, she saved five shots to shutout Warwick Valley (IX AL) and win 3-0.

Teammates Elise Faix and Jillyan Ewing joined Wood on the Division II First-Team. Spencerport’s Liana Tata, Emily Peacock, Julia Maloney and Ryan Smith all earned the honors while Sophie Esders and Nevaeh Jackson were recognized for Webster Thomas. Cassie Carpenter and Evelyn Amesbury both garnered the award for Gates Chili alongside Brighton’s Lucy Peters and Hillarie Ostar.Irondequoit’s Elena Lamanna closes out the Division II First-Team.

Drake (Greece Athena) earned her Player of the Year bid for Division III after leading the Trojans to a 14-2-1 record with 38 goals and five assists for a total of 43 points. The junior recorded eight hat tricks this year against Eastridge (9/3) and (10/22), Greece Arcadia (9/9) and (9/29), Honeoye Falls-Lima (10/1), Pittsford Mendon (10/4), Greece Olympia (10/15) and Batavia (10/17). Across the postseason, Drake found the back of the net four times in two sectional matchups.

Joining Drake on the Division III First-Team are teammates Emilee Montagliano, Anna Forman and Alexis Drake. Pittsford Sutherland’s Lizzie Riley, Alyssa Hatch and Sarah Fields earned selections while Lillian Larimer and Ella VanPutte claimed the honors for Pittsford Mendon. Greece Arcadia’s Jaeda Blais-Rodriquez and Lily Tracz got recognized while Canandaigua’s Anna Cywinski closed out the Division III First-Team selections.

Shamp (Batavia) led the Blue Devils to a 10-7-2 record finishing her season with 28 goals and eight assists for a total of 36 points to earn the Division IV Player of the Year honor. The senior forward contributed a hat trick and an assist in a 9-0 win against Eastridge on Sept. 9. In the postseason, Shamp added seven goals in a three game stretch including two hat tricks against Rochester Prep (10/22) and Greece Olympia (10/25).

Teammate Libby Grazioplene joined Shamp on the Division IV First-Team. Brockport’s Allison Cole, Brea DeCoste, Ella Pentz and Alana Dobson were recognized while Kyleigh Bathe, Haylee Falco, Alexandra Seitz and Jenna Christensen earned the honors for Greece Olympia. Brooklyn Master and Jenna Lawerence both garnered the bid for Honeoye Falls-Lima and Eastridge’s Emma Ross closed out the Division IV First-Team.
