Aquinas has won its fifth game by a one-goal margin this season and paved the way to the Class A state championship game. The Li’l Irish are set to meet the Rye Garnets for the Class A championship. That game is on Sunday, November 16th, at Cortland High School. A 3 PM kickoff is set.

BYRON-BERGEN (19-3-0) 2
TUCKAHOE (I) 3

CLASS D
FILLMORE (19-2-0) 1
CINCINNATUS CENTRAL (III) 2
Trailing 1-0, Morghyn Ross connected on the equalizer to send Fillmore into halftime level. Jelsie Stafford’s second-half goal was the game winner for Cincinnatus. Jocelyn Tursh started the scoring for Cincinnatus. Fillmore keeper Kelsie Songster made six saves. Cincinnatus will face Chazy in the Class D championship. That game is scheduled for Sunday at Homer High School. Kickoff is slated for 10 AM.
“It was a battle of two outstanding teams No. 1 and No. 2 in the state at the time (Cincinnatus 1) and it lived up to its billing,” said Fillmore head coach JOn Beardsley via email. “Cincinnatus was just a bit better. We certainly had our shining moments, and I am very proud of this group of young ladies. It was a physical game, and we hadn’t experienced much and I thought we rose to the occasion. Cincinnatus has been in the state final four the last three years (twice in D and once in C) so like us they know what it takes at this level.
“A record of 19-2 on the season, a league, sectional, and regional championship along with a toe to toe state semifinal – certainly we would like to win (it is the point), but we can be proud of everything else. I say it all the time, being this teams coach brings me joy and peace. I am fortunate to be the coach of such wonderful kids.
“Mattie McCumiskey, Morghyn Ross and Peyton Duvall are our three seniors. Tremendous soccer players and even better kids. They will be missed, but always an Eagle.”
