
One team is undefeated and has a chance for its second Section V title in the past three seasons. The other is looking to avenge a regular season loss while on the hunt for their second title in program history. Monroe (#1 Class B NYSSWA) and Honeoye Falls-Lima will play for the Class B title on Saturday. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Monroe had a first-round bye into the championship game. Honeoye Falls-Lima took down No. 2 seed Batavia 43-14 in the semifinal round to advance to the title game.

Players to watch for Monroe: Messiah Hampton Sr. WR (42 catches, 857 yards, nine receiving touchdowns, 67 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, two interceptions, University of Oregon commit), Terrell “Pooty” Cunningham Jr. QB (76.3% completion rate, 2,168 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns), Luis Falu Sr. WR (18 catches, 442 receiving yards, eight touchdowns); Anthony Omebe Sr. DE/WR (49 tackles, 10 sacks, three fumble recoveries, three catches, 44 yards, one touchdown), Jermaine Montgomery Jr. Sr. RB/LB (304 rushing yards, 10.4 yards per carry, two rushing touchdowns, 75 tackles, one interception, two fumble recoveries).

Honeoye Falls-Lima: Nathan Meacham Sr. QB (1,015 passing yards, 123 rushing yards, 13 total touchdowns), Brian Finn Jr. RB/LB (691 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 11 catches, 95 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns), Grady Goodberlet So. History 101: The two teams met on October 10th, and Monroe came away with a 38-7 road win. Monroe last won a sectional title in 2023 and a win on Saturday would be the fourth sectional title for the Red Jackets since 1977. Honeoye Falls-Lima won its only Section V title in 2020 (21).
What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class B Far West Regional against the winner of the Section VI Class B championship between Lackawanna and West Seneca East.
Kickoff is set for 3:00 pm this Saturday at Rush-Henrietta High School.
