Saturday Girls’ Soccer Wrap: Aquinas and Livonia advance to state semifinals

CLASS A

STARPOINT CENTRAL (VI) 0
AQUINAS (19-1-0) 3
Elizabeth Valentino, Sienna Fallone, and Savannah Sweet scored a goal apiece in a clean Class A regional victory. Valentino and Fallone found the back of the net in the first half to give Aquinas a 2-nil lead heading into the break. Bella Muratore accounted for an assist on Valentino’s goal. Briar Hinds made four saves to register a third shutout in the postseason and 13th clean sheet of the campaign. The win was the seventh straight for Aquinas which returns to the state final four for the first time since 2017. The Li’l Irish will face New Hartford (III) in the state semifinals. That game is scheduled for November 15th at 2:30 PM.

CLASS B

FALCONER (VI) 0
LIVONIA (17-1-0) 1
The Bulldogs advanced to the Class B state semifinals to face Section IV champion Chenango Forks. That game is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th at Cortland High School. A 9:30 AM. kickoff is scheduled.

CLASS C

WILSON (17-2-0)
BYRON-BERGEN (19-2-0) 5

A 2-0 deficit certainly isn’t unmanageable, but it’s not ideal, either. Still, the Lakewomen at that point dropped the man-mark on the University of Florida commit and fell back to relying on the team speed that helped make them a Section VI champion. READ MORE.

CLASS D

FRANKLINVILLE (3-14-0) 0
FILLMORE (19-1-0) 10

As impressive as their resolve was, it was clear that Fillmore had more of everything. The first sign of that came barely three minutes into the match when senior Mattie McCumiskey gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Just 20 seconds later, it was 2-0 when Kallie Pastorius scored the first of her three goals and by halftime, it was 5-0 with goals from Tenlee Miller and Emalyn Mucher. READ MORE.
