Friday Football Wrap: Antinore TD pass to Davies with 11 seconds left lifts Notre Dame Batavia/Byron-Bergen; Alexander/Pembroke tallies third straight shutout

CLASS AA

No. 4 PENFIELD (6-4) 22
No. 1 RUSH-HENRIETTA (6-3) 13

Two interceptions by Brodie Joyce and rushing touchdowns from Zane Kropman and Dom Giunta led Penfield to a semifinal victory. Kropman rushed for 124 yards on the night, while Dom Giunta threw for 117 yards on a 10-for-16 night while rushing for 72 yards. Ronan Boyles made four catches for 51 yards and also made two sacks on defense. Riley Johnson was 3-for-3 in field goals. Jake Maurer also pulled down an interception, while AJ Theodorakakos made 10 tackles. Evan Layton recovered two fumbles to go with three tackles. Penfield faces the winner of Saturday’s game between Pittsford and McQuaid on Nov. 15 at SUNY Brockport.

CLASS A1

No. 6 WEBSTER SCHROEDER (6-4) 20
No. 4 BRIGHTON (8-2) 30

Around 10:00 pm on October 17th, the Brighton Bruins were walking to their buses after a tough loss. They had just fallen 31-21 in their regular season finale at Webster Schroeder, a bad first two and half quarters in which they fell behind 28-7 being the difference. A second half rally in which they scored back-to-back touchdowns to make it a one-score game fell short. But three weeks later in the Class A1 championship game at SUNY Brockport on Friday night, the Bruins played an almost exact copy of the first game they had against Webster Schroeder, just on the other side of it… READ MORE HERE.

CLASS A2

No. 2 BROCKPORT (6-4) 7
No. 1 EAST/WOIS (8-2) 34

Around this time last year, East/World of Inquiry and Brockport met in the opening round of sectionals. East/World of Inquiry was the number two seed, and playing on their home field against the seventh-seeded Blue Devils. Brockport won a shootout, taking the game 45-42 in overtime. This year, the two squads once again met in sectionals, this time in the Class A2 championship game. This year, it would be coach James Vann and his squad who would come out on top, as the Eagles would outscore the Blue Devils 28-0 in the first half on their way to a 34-7 win at SUNY Brockport Friday night… READ MORE HERE.

CLASS B

No. 3 HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA (4-5) 43
No. 2 BATAVIA (4-5) 14

Brian Finn rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns as Honeoye Falls-Lima advanced to the finals. Marco Vingochea scored twice on the ground for the Cougars and also pulled down an interception on defense. Ben Feinberg rushed for a touchdown, while Austin Coyle had a touchdown reception from Nate Meacham. Honeoye Falls-Lima faces Monroe in the Class B title game on Nov. 15 at Rush-Henrietta.

CLASS C

No. 4 LE ROY/CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (6-4) 0
No. 1 ALEXANDER/PEMBROKE (9-0) 27

Pierce Dinkins rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Alexander/Pembroke Defenders to a semifinal victory. Ryder Reichert also scored a rushing touchdown, part of a 143 yard night. Brody Heckman rushed for a touchdown and also connected with Duke Snyder for a two-point conversion pass. The Defenders lived up to their name on the other side of the ball, forcing their third consecutive shutout and six out of its last nine. Jacob Johnson led the team with eight tackles, including four for a loss. Wyatt Summers had six tackles, Jacob Pietrzykowski had four, and Jacob Bailey had three tackles forced a fumble. Colton Halladay led Le Roy/Caledonia-Mumford with eight tackles including one for a loss, while Joe Reschke made seven tackles including two for a loss and also pulled down an interception. Cameron Riggi had five tackles, while Dillon Alcott made four tackles and also had a sack. Alexander/Pembroke faces No. 2 Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry on Nov. 15 at Rush-Henrietta for the Class C title.

No. 2 LETCHWORTH/WARSAW/PERRY (8-2) 14

Rushing touchdowns by Jake McEntire and Maddox Kelly spearheaded Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry to a win in the Class C semifinal round. Aiden Shelley rushed for 68 yards, while Caden Sumeriski rushed for 50 yards and a two-point conversion. Brayden Merritt led LPW defensively with eight tackles, while Carter Pricer and McEntire had five each. Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry Letchworth/Warsaw/Perry faces No. 1 Alexander/Pembroke on Nov. 15 at Rush-Henrietta for the Class C championship.

CLASS D

No. 5 NOTRE DAME BATAVIA/BYRON-BERGEN (5-5) 19
No. 1 YORK/PAVILION (7-2) 14

A fourth down touchdown pass from Chase Antinore to Finn Davies with 11 seconds left on the clock gave Notre Dame Batavia/Byron-Bergen the victory in the Class D semifinal. The last-minute game-winner was one of two touchdown passes by Antinore, who was 14-for-23 for 146 yards on the night and also rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown. Antinore also made five tackles and pulled down an interception on defense. Davies finished the game with four catches and 43 receiving yards, while Parker Lazarony led the team with 50 yards on four receptions. Parker Moore led the Fighting Irish with six tackles, while Stetson Hall had four and forced a fumble and Mackoy Hall made three and recovered a fumble. Roy Ricks also had three tackles. Adyn Horzempa made two tackles and two sacks. Ja’Lon Richardson caught the other touchdown pass, one of three catches on the night for the receiver, who also made five tackles on defense. Parker Bonafede led York/Pavilion with 30 yards rushing and 186 yards passing on a 11-for-16 night featuring two touchdown passes, including a 21-yard strike to Javen Jackson. Yeriel Dias-Pena made five receptions for 43 yards. Trent Englert made 10 tackles, including one for a loss. Kasey Coffey had nine, while Liam Campbell had six and a sack. Notre Dame/Batavia/Byron-Bergen faces No. 2 Avon for the Class D title on Nov. 14 at SUNY Brockport.

No. 3 CANISTEO-GREENWOOD (6-4) 9
No. 2 AVON (8-2) 28

A 97-yard kickoff touchdown return by Eli Rex gave Avon an early lead it never gave up as the River Hawks moved through the semifinals. Rex also pulled down an interception, made three pass breakups, and caught a 19-yard pass on offense. Kalman Dolgos rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Evan Blye. James Chase rushed for 67 yards. Gabe Mayen hit four extra-points. Spencer Berry caught a 60-yard pass from Austin Hall for Canisteo-Greenwood’s lone touchdown. Avon faces No. 5 Notre Dame Batavia/Byron-Bergen on Nov. 14 at SUNY Brockport for the Class D title.
