The Bees then downed Holley 4-0 to reach the Far West Regional. Wilson took down Barker/Lyndonville (2-0), Portville (3-2) and Frewsburg (1-0) to capture the Section VI crown.

History 101: Byron-Bergen is making its fourth trip in five years to the state quarterfinals. The Bees are 3-0 in their previous outings. Last year, B-B captured the NYS Class C title, defeating Stillwater (II) 1-0 in the championship game. In the Far West Regional, the Bees took down Frewsburg (VI) 2-1 to advance. Wilson is looking to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2015. Section V is 8-1-1 in Class C state quarterfinal games since 2014 with Avon (1-0 over Holland in ’14), Caledonia-Mumford (1-0 over Allegheny-Limestone, ’15) Wheatland-Chili (3-2 over Maple Grove, ’18), Marion (4-0 over Frewsburg, ’19) and Holley (2-0 over Frewsburg, ’23) also collecting wins.
What’s at stake: A spot in the Class C NYS Semifinal against the winner of Tuckahoe (I AL) and Groton (IV).
