Tuesday Boys’ Soccer Wrap: Rounds rally lifts Haverling in double overtime; Kendall completes undefeated season thanks to McCue’s overtime heroics

Justin Owens netted two goals and picked up an assist while Brandon Owens and Nicholas Pullano added a goal and assist apiece to pace Greece Arcadia to its fifth consecutive victory. Alexander Polito scored the first goal of the four-goal second half while Vadym Leskiv notched two assists in the final 40. Nathan Aldrich garnered seven saves senior’s third shutout of the season.

SPENCERPORT (10-4-1) 2
BROCKPORT (9-6) 1

Michael Tette led the way with a goal and an assist to lift Spencerport and put a two-game losing streak to an end. Zach Tortora netted a goal while Daniel Weiss added an assist.

WEBSTER SCHROEDER (6-8) 1

Alessandro Bosa led the way with a goal and an assist to lift Brighton. Bosa netted the first goal of the game in the 28th minute off an assist from Johnathan Phoummany and assisted Omer Demirtas five minutes into the second half. Myles Russell recorded three saves between the posts.

CANANDAIGUA (5-10) 3

Shayne Cooke and Christian Schuessler scored second-half goals to lead Canandaigua to back-to-back victories. Daniel Loaiza scored the first goal of the game 15 minutes in while Stephen Chehata earned two assists. Fher Rabelo De La Cruz garnered six saves for the junior’s second straight shutout and third of the season.

PITTSFORD SUTHERLAND (10-4) 3
WEBSTER THOMAS (4-9) 2

Jack Woods, Zephyr Garigen and Max Morgenstern scored for Sutherland which trailed 2-1 in the second half. Kris Mihalitsas and Griffin Nerone added assists for the Knights’ sixth win in a row. Joe DeRisi made 10 saves for Sutherland. Declan Lavyrenko score twice for Thomas.

FAIRPORT (13-0-0) 2

In a battle pitting two of the remaining six unbeaten teams in Section V Boys’ Soccer, Fairport outshot Churchville 5-1 in the first half, but came away empty-handed. The corner-kick opportunity was the fifth of the night for Bill Teasdale’s squad. READ MORE.

Five minutes into the second half, Bibesh Thapa connected with Arnanh Douangdala for the eventual game-winning goal to lift Greece Olympia.

Tyler McCue netted the game-winning goal into the bottom left corner early in overtime off an assist from Brandon Barrett to lift No. 3 NYSSWA Class C Kendall and complete the undefeated regular season. Barrett found the back of the net in the second half thanks to an assist from Pablo Rosario-Reyes. Rosario-Reyes leads Section V in assists with 22. Jonathan Conte hauled in nine saves between the posts.

NORTHSTAR CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (13-2) 9

Addison Spargo completed the hat trick while Sam Sluk found the back of the net twice during a six-goal first half to pace Northstar Christian Academy to its 12th victory in its last 13 outings. Shane Corriea added a goal and an assist while Roman Burkovsky, Felipe Gabriele and Ignacio Nunez netted a goal apiece. Christian Mazur picked up two assists while Miles Tomlinson, Sam Bugota, Kyler Phillips and Andrew West all tallied an assist each. The game marks NCA’s ninth shutout of the season as the Knights outscore opponents 68-9. NCA is ranked No. 6 NYSSWA Class D.

David Ndabwa notched two assists off second-half goals from Ibrahimu Ali and Luisbert Rossis to lead WOIS/Edison/Padilla/SOTA to back-to-back victories. Lucien Tremblay made three saves between the posts.

GENEVA (8-8) 0

Elijah Doell netted the game-winning goal off an assist from Caleb Mahoney to lift No. 6 NYSSWA Class B Mynderse to its sixth victory in the last seven matchups. With the goal, Doell reaches 30 on the season, leading Section V.

Nick Coons and Ryan Irizarry netted a goal apiece to lift Newark and snap a two-game losing streak. For Penn Yan, Wilson Oliva netted the lone goal while Miles Ditzell garnered six saves.

HONEOYE (7-7) 0

Ian Pavlina connected late in the first half to provide all the offense Dundee/Bradford needed for its fifth win in the past six games. Honeoye came away empty-handed despite accumulating 13 shots in the second half. Honeoye keeper Braiden Schneider finished with eight saves.

HAC (6-8) 4

Emilio Martinez netted a hat trick to lead HAC and end the regular season on a three-game win streak. Leo Drew scored a goal while Dane Colaprete notched two assists and Parker Weiss one.

SOUTHERN CAYUGA (IV) 0
SODUS (11-3-1) 3

Gauge Johnson found the back of the net twice to lead Sodus to its fourth-straight victory. Johnson connected in the first half off a pass from Cooper Ingersoll then converted a penalty kick in the second. Evan Laird finished a corner kick from Ingersoll to start the scoring. Ingersoll sits fourth in Section V with 19 assists on the season. Axmir Sanchez Gonzalez made seven saves for the senior’s fifth shutout of the season.

LEROY/CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (12-3) 9

Noah Kaczanowski found the back of the net twice and added an assist while Jake Wiley netted two goals to pace LeRoy/Caledonia-Mumford to its sixth victory in its last seven outings. Jagger Smith, Jack Currin, Anthony Wright, Edwin Verdugo Garcia and Jacob Murray all finished with a goal on the night. Brayden Chase picked up two assists while Deacon Queal, Liam Grayson, Evan Martin and Sean McNear all tallied one apiece. Tyler Potter and Grady Gilligan combined for the Rivals’ sixth shutout of the season.

DANSVILLE (2-12-1) 1

Seth Rounds found the back of the net twice, once for the game-tying goal and another for the game-winning goal in double overtime to lift Haverling to its seventh victory in its last eight matchups. Rounds tied the game at one apiece with 21 seconds left thanks to an assist from Josh Wheeler and scored the game-winner with 3:25 left off an assist from Callum Hill. Mason Davis tallied three saves for the senior’s eighth shutout of the season.

Carter Brown and Robert Childs finished with a goal and assist apiece to lead Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale and snap a three-game losing streak. Chase Haas and Hunter Cassidy both found the back of the net once while Zachary Deck tallied an assist. Coleman Searle recorded three saves for 109 on the season. For Friendship-Scio, Tristen Willis connected with Conner Blouvet 13 minutes in for the lone goal of the game while Deacon Brown made six saves.
