Saturday Football Wrap: Kropman leads Penfield; Monroe gets second shutout of the season

BRIGHTON (3-0) 28

Zach Rossignol rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns while Patrick Rohr also scored twice to lead Brighton. With the game tied at seven, Rohr returned a kickoff 74 yards to pay dirt. The junior also caught three passes for 29 yards including a nine-yard reception for a score. Ethan Bialaszewski completed 10-of-18 passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. Justin Medina had nine carries for 81 yards. Clarence Bell had two catches for 27 yards. Leo Hopkins caught a pair of passes for 34 yards. Matthew Heininger (5), Amari Snowden (5), Justin Medina (4), Brandon Kemp (3), Zack Rossignol (6), Anthony Julian (5) all recorded tackles for Brighton. Medina and Kemp had an interception apiece. Terrell “Pooty” Cunningham completed 18-of-24 passes for 320 yards to lead Monroe. Messiah Hampton moved within 92 yards of the Section V record as the senior caught seven passes for 107 yards in the win. Ray Garcia had five catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. Luis Falu made three catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. Hampton and Christien Franklin led the defense with 12 tackles apiece. Jordan Wickham accounted for 10 tackles- including six for a loss. Jermaine Montgomery had 11 tackles. Monroe has not allowed a touchdown this season.

PENFIELD (1-2) 21

Zane Kropman rushed for 187 yards and two touchdowns on 37 carries to lead Penfield. Quarterback Dom Giunta went 6-for-7 through the air for 80 yards and a touchdown. Ronan Boyle led the Patriots in receiving, catching two balls for 58 yards and reaching the end zone once. For the Penfield defense, Jake Mauer had three tackles, an interception, and a pass deflection. Gavin Earl recorded a sack and a fumble recovery and Austin Weaver had a sack. McQuaid’s Thomas Bailey finished with 12 tackles including 10 solo efforts, one forced fumbled. Bailey also had five catches for 25 yards to go with nine carries for 42 yards. Ace Erdmann accounted for 12 tackles (nine solo), two fumble recoveries and five receptions for 34 yards.

Parker Lazarony completed 3-of-4 passes for 98 and three touchdowns as Notre Dame-Batavia/Byron-Bergen compiled 347 total yards on 33 offensive plays. TJ Cephus caught a pair of touchdown passes and also had a 2-point conversion. Chase Antinore also had a touchdown catch. Drew Beachel hit Finn Davies for another score through the air. Jojo Richardson, Timmy Bartz, Roy Ricks and Damien Frazier scored a rushing touchdown apiece. Parker Moore led the ND-B/B-B defense with seven tackles. Roy Ricks and James Lamb had seven and four tackles respectively. Moore, Lamb, Ricks, Liam Boye and Austin Griffin each had a sack.

CLYDE-SAVANNAH (2-1) 36
RED JACKET (1-2) 12

John Whitfield went 8-for-14 through the air for 292 yards and three touchdowns to lead Clyde-Savannah. Garrett Carr caught two touchdown passes and ran for another in the win. Carr finished with four receptions for 188 yards while rushing for 53 yards on three carries. Vincent Nicoletta also caught a touchdown pass and totaled 79 yards on two receptions. For Red Jacket, Aldric Smith-Fee totaled 112 yards on the ground for the Cardinals. Smith Fee also tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jaxson Ham. Ham hauled in five passes for 148 yards and reached the end zone twice including a 28-yard touchdown pass from Red Jacket quarterback Derrick House. On the defensive side, Wyatt Rossignol tallied 4 tackles including a sack. Jaxson Ham also contributed on defense with an interception.



NEWARK/MARION (3-0) 16
EDISON (0-3) 14

Darrien Streeter scored a pair of touchdowns and also had a two-point conversion to lead Newark. Carter Graser completed a pass to Streeter for one of the scores. Edison’s Jay’Veon Kashmear Ray scored a rushing touchdown. Jay’zeil Ragins returned an interception for the Inventors other score.
