Wednesday Boys’ Soccer Wrap: Kelly scores two and assists on two in Perry win; Ryan leads Haverling to season-opening victory

HAVERLING (1-0) 9

Mason Ryan scored twice to lead Haverling to a season-opening win. Seth Rounds had a goal and an assist in the win. Josh Wheeler, Conner Binkowski, Dylan Wenban, Donovan Ryan, Jack Herrick, and Lukas Wightman also found the back of the net. Jaron Yarrison and Mark Nichols both tallied two assists, with Jackson Derrick and Caleb Lyke rounding out the assist column. Wightman and Mason Davis split time in goal for the Rams, combining for the clean sheet with a save each.

ATTICA/ALEXANDER (0-1) 1
PERRY (1-0) 4
Senior captain Brady Kelly scored twice in the first half then added two assists in the second as the Perry Yellowjackets advanced to the championship game of the 2nd Annual Perry Kick Off Tournament. Martin Pena Castro also scored, sending the ball into the net from 25 yards after a six-pass play. Tyler Harvey had a goal and an assist, while Jonathan Grover also notched an assist. Jackson Beck scored the lone Attica/Alexander goal, assisted by Preston Bannister. Colton Spink made 11 saves for the Blue Devils.

PEMBROKE (1-0) 5
Patrick Reeves scored a goal and tallied an assist for Pembroke as it opened the season with a victory. The Dragons also saw scores from Will Gibson, Austin Post, Silas Claderon, and Max Levinstein. Doug Hale Jr., Hudson Strassburg, and Gavin Liss all had assists. Spencer Kohl made four saves at keeper.

NICHOLS (Monsignor Martin) 0
Aquinas earned its first win of the young season with a shutout victory at the Buffalo area’s Nichols School.

WAYLAND-COHOCTON (1-0) 4

Alexander Fedorchuk scored Wayland-Cohocton’s first goal of the season in the first half and later found the back of the net again in the second as the Eagles opened their 2025 campaign with a win. Carl George Baverstock scored a second-half penalty-kick and contributed two assists. Maxwell Brown also put a goal on the board. Defensively, Henry Caskey made 10 saves.
