Center fielder Andrew Pinckney homered twice as part of a three-hit, five-RBI night as the Rochester Red Wings opened a two-week road trip with a win against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 8-5.
Pinckney, who leads the team in round-trippers with 20, opened scoring with a two-run blast to right in the first before later making it 5-0 with another two-run homer in the third. The 24-year-old Alabaman also tripled in the ninth for a two-out RBI that gave the Wings some insurance.

After taking the 5-0 lead, the Wings allowed a run in the third and fourth before a two-run home run in the seventh from designated hitter Nick Schnell upped the lead to 7-2, helping the Red Wings withstand a Jacksonville run each in the final three innings. Schnell ultimately finished the day by going 3-for-5 with two RBI. First baseman Yohandy Morales also had multiple hits, reaching safely twice while also earning a walk.
On the mound, Andrew Alvarez moved to 3-7 on the year with a six-inning, three-hit performance, striking out six while allowing two earned runs and two walks. Each of the three Red Wings relievers allowed a run in an inning each.
Williamsville native and Jacksonville catcher Joe Mack led the Jumbo Shrimp at the plate with a 2-for-3 night, including a solo home run in the seventh as part of a two-RBI night.
The Red Wings continue their series with Jacksonville on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m., when they send out Bryce Conley against Adam Mazur.
