The Rochester Red Wings shut out the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 8-0, on Sunday, securing a 2-1 victory in the series in Allentown. Catcher Francisco Mejia and third baseman Trey Lipscomb each homered.

Shinnosuke Ogasawara, making his first Red Wings (36-57, 9-12 in the second half) start since April 13, went five innings spreading out six hits while walking two and striking out two. He was followed up by the rehabbing Orlando Ribalta, who took the ball after a 43-minute rain delay and allowed one hit in a scoreless sixth. Ryan Loutos, Konnor Pilkington, and Eduardo Salazar handled one inning each the rest of the way without allowing a hit.

Offensively, the Wings opened scoring with Mejia’s first home run as a Red Wing, a solo shot in the third off Lehigh Valley (55-39, 9-11 in second half) starter Alan Rangel. Yohandy Morales added another run to the score two innings later, singling in Trey Lipscomb on an infield hit to make it 2-0.

The Red Wings blew the game open in the final three innings, with Jose Tena doubling in Darren Baker in the seventh, Trey Lipscomb added another run with his solo shot in the eighth, and then the Wings put up four on the IronPigs in the ninth to complete the 8-0 score.

Lipscomb ended the day with a 3-for-4 performance, doubling twice in addition to his home run while driving in two, walking once, and scoring twice. Pinckney also doubled twice, while Tena doubled and drove in two.

The Red Wings return to Innovative Field on Tuesday to open a series with the Yankees-affiliated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. with Chase Solesky scheduled to take the mound for the Wings.
