One team is looking to make the NYS Class C final in back-to-back years. The other is looking to win a fourth straight state title. Bloomfield and Deposit-Hancock (IV) will battle to send one team to the NYS Class C finals. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Bloomfield opened the postseason with an 8-1 win over Pembroke before beating Caledonia-Mumford (8-1) and Warsaw (14-0) to claimed the Section V Class C1 title. The Bombers then defeated Bolivar-Richburg (4-0) in a regional qualifier and Chautauqua Lake (6-0) in the state quarterfinals to advance to Friday’s matchup. Deposit-Hancock opened the postseason with a win over Harpursville before beating Bainbridge-Guilford and Tioga to claim the Section IV title. The Eagles topped Sandy Creek (5-2) to clinch a spot in the semifinals.
Tempo and trends: Bloomfield averages 9.5 runs per game and allows one run per game on defense. Deposit-Hancock averages 11.3 runs per game on offense while allowing 1.1 runs per game on defense. Bloomfield has a 15-game win streak while Deposit-Hancock has won 14 of its last 15 including nine double-digit wins in that span.

History 101: This is the second straight state semifinal appearance for Bloomfield. The Bombers lost in the finals to Berne-Knox-Westerlo (2), 1-0 last year. Deposit-Hancock, which has won the last three NYS Class D titles, is looking to make its fourth straight finals appearance and first at the Class C level. Deposit made five consecutive trips to the NYS Class D finals from 2015-2019 and claimed championships in ’15, ’16, ’17 and ’19.
