Geneseo and Kendall to fight for spot in state quarterfinal

Each team enters on a 15-game winning streak. Each team has already won a sectional title. And each team will fight for the chance to represent Section V Class C in the Far West Regional. Geneseo and Kendall clash on Tuesday night. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Geneseo took down Lyons with a 13-4 win in the Class C1 first round and then beat Notre Dam- Batavia in the quarterfinals 7-6. A 5-4 win over Bloomfield in the semifinals booked Geneseo a trip to the C1 title game, in which they defeated Sodus by a score of 12-3. Kendall kicked off its playoff run with an 11-0 victory over Perry in the Class C2 quarterfinal round. A 3-2 victory against Oakfield-Alabama in the semifinal round booked the Eagles a spot in the C2 championship, which they won 6-0 over the course of two days against Genesee Valley-Belfast.

Tempo and Trends: Geneseo averages 9.2 runs per game on offense and allows an average of 4.3 runs per game on defense. Kendall produces an average of 9.3 runs per game offensively while giving up an average of 1.5 runs per game on defense.

History 101: Geneseo is looking to make its third trip to the state quarterfinals and first since 2015. Kendall last reached the Far West Regional in 1999, the Eagles only state quarterfinal appearance.
