Sectional Final Softball Preview: Rush-Henrietta, Greece battle for Class AAA title

One squad is looking for its second title in the last three years. The other aims for its first title since merging. Greece and Rush-Henrietta will clash on Saturday to determine the Section V Class AAA champion. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Rush-Henrietta defeated Fairport 5-1 to reach the title game. Greece took down Monroe/SWW/East 18-1 before beating top-seed Padilla/WOIS 13-0 in the semifinals.

Trends: Rush-Henrietta snapped a three-game skid in the semifinals. Greece has won three in a row. During the regular season, the teams met twice with a split outcome.

History 101: Rush-Henrietta is looking for its second title in the last three seasons. In 2022, the Royal Comets captured the Class AA title, but fell in the Far West Regional. Greece is looking for its first title as a combined program. Since 2009, Greece squads have won two titles, with Greece Athena and Greece Arcadia capturing the two.

What’s at stake: A spot in the Class AAA Far West Regional against the Section VI winner.
