After a victory by Arkport-Canaseraga in the regular season, the Wolves and Fillmore meet again in the Class D sectional final. One program is attempting to go back-to-back for its eighth title in program history. The other squad is trying to earn its second title in four years. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Top-seeded Arkport-Canaseraga shutout No. 16 Friendship-Scio in the first round 16-0 and continued that hot streak with a 16-1 win over No. 9 Alfred-Almond in the quarterfinals. The Wolves stayed hot with another shutout victory against No. 4 Naples 13-0 to advance to the final. No. 6 Fillmore kicked off its postseason with a 21-2 victory over No. 11 Hammondsport and edged out No. 3 Elba in the quarterfinals 3-1. The Eagles then cruised to a 14-5 victory against No. 2 Keshequa 14-5 in the semifinals to make the title game.
Tempo and trends: Arkport-Canaseraga scores 10.17 runs a game and allows only .94. Fillmore averages 9.2 runs a game while allowing 4.05. The Wolves enter the title game on a nine-game win streak while outscoring opponents 107-3 in that span. The Wolves have scored 10-plus runs 16 times this season and outscore opponets 183-17 overall. Fillmore rolls into the championship on a five-game win streak while scoring 10-plus runs in four of them. The Eagles have outscored opponents 65-17 and are averaging a 9.6 run differential during that span.

History 101: In the lone regular matchup between the two squads, Arkport-Canaseraga came away with a 8-5 victory over Fillmore. Arkport-Canaseraga is looking to go back-to-back in Class D after defeating Genesee Valley-Belfast 6-2 in the championship last year. The Wolves are shooting for their eighth title in program history and third title in the last 10 years with another coming back in 2016. After falling in the 2024 Class D semifinals to Arkport-Canaseraga 9-6, Fillmore is looking for sweet revenge in the championship. Along with that, Fillmore is attempting to earn its fifth title in school history and its first title since 2022.
