Another member of the Rochester Red Wings’ outfield is heading to the big leagues.
Daylen Lile, the No. 9 prospect in the Washington Nationals farm system according to MLB.com Pipeline, was called up to the majors on Friday after the Nationals placed outfielder Jacob Young on the 10-day Injured List with a left shoulder sprain.

The 22-year-old Lile gets his first call-up just weeks after he arrived in Rochester. The Kentuckian has hit extremely well since reaching AAA, slashing .361/.432/.514 with a .946 OPS in 18 games with the Wings. His season batting average (.337), OPS (.892), hits (55), and runs scored (30) between AA and AAA lead the Nationals’ system.
Lile’s call-up comes just days after another Red Wing outfielder, Robert Hassell III, earned the call to the show after Dylan Crews‘ injury. Hassell notched two hits, stole a base, and scored twice- including the game-winning run in extra innings- in his MLB debut on Thursday night.
Despite the call-ups, the Red Wings (14-32) may be in one of their best stretches of the season so far, having won four of their last six, including a 6-4 victory at Syracuse on Thursday night. The Red Wings play again on Friday at 6:35 p.m., with Andrew Alvarez (0-5, 4.73) set to take the mound in Syracuse against the Mets.
Gotta feel good for the kids…escaping this house of horrors.
Wings finally won a series! They took 4 of 6 from Syracuse and in a bizarre schedule for 2025, we don’t go back to Syracuse anymore…only 6 games there. There have been seasons where we played our Thruway rival over 20 times. So before May ends, we only have a few more home games against the Mets.
While this is the best the Wings have played this season, they are still buried in last place. Only hope is that if they are starting to figure things out, they may do better when the 2nd half re-sets. If Nats can get us some pitching, things might improve. Also will we get our hitters back so they can develop properly? ( I know injuries have facilitated the call-ups)
