Constantino Financial Thursday Baseball Wrap: Edelstein’s late single helps Brighton win in extras; Osterhout pitches complete game and fans 12 for Waterloo

BRIGHTON (6-5) 3
GATES CHILI (4-6) 1 (F/17)
Jack Edelstein placed a single into the right field grass in the top of the 17th inning that scored Nolan Bonnell and Max Sheehan and would go on to be the decider for Brighton in a game that started on April 23rd. The game was the longest known game in Section V Baseball since 2001 when Penfield defeated Webster in 19 innings in the Class AA semifinals. Sheehan got the start on the mound for the Bruins and struck out eight batters over seven and a third innings of three-hit ball. Bonnell had a sacrifice fly in the 14th inning that scored Sal Burge and gave Brighton a 1-0 lead. Edelstein also singled in the fifth inning and walked twice. Grady Hopkin pitched seven innings of relief and fanned eight batters. Noah Dietz pitched two and two third innings of relief and struck out a batter on the mound, and tallied three singles and a walk at the plate. Wesley Sturrup and Michael Staszak each placed three singles, with Staszak drawing a pair of walks as well. Noah Wagner got on base twice via singles. Burge walked twice and singled. Cole Gorman finished with a single, a walk, and an RBI that scored Gavin Sweeney in the bottom of the 14th. Gorman pitched the final six innings of the game for the Spartans and struck out three batters. Sweeney was the starting pitcher for Gates Chili and struck out four batters over seven innings. Sweeney also was walked three times, and singled. Jaylen Givens turned in three singles and a drawn walk while also throwing three innings and relief and picking up three strikeouts. Nicolas DiFrancesca and Jacob Gangross each singled. Bruce Hanna, Andrew McManus, and Benett Marconi all got on base once via a walk. Ethan Coakley pitched an inning of relief and struck out a batter.

PITTSFORD MENDON (6-5) 2
IRONDEQUOIT (4-5) 4 (F/5)
 Landon Bryan pitched four innings and struck out a batter while also singling to help Irondequoit. Brayden Delly, Jimmy Jackson, and Jackson Mroczek each walked and scored for the Eagles. Alex McLaughlin and Jaden Springer drew a walk each. Forney scored a run and had an RBI single in the top of the 4th inning that gave Pittsford Mendon a 1-0 lead. Samuel Harrigan then had an RBI triple in the frame that made it 2-0. Aidan Lerner-Morelle singled twice. Eli Charatz pitched three and two third innings in a starting effort and struck out four batters. Max Levitan threw an inning and a third in relief and picked up three strikeouts. Jack Albanese and James Termine each drew a walk. The game was called early due to weather.

McQUAID (7-5) 6
RUSH-HENRIETTA (5-7) 4
Dominic Anzalone reached on a fielder’s that scored both Conor Forkey and Dominic Corona to break a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and help McQuaid win its fourth straight game. Jason Larsen scored twice and was 2-for-2 at the plate, one of his hits being a solo-shot home run in the second inning that got McQuaid on the board. Larsen pitched the first three and a third innings of the contest and struck out two batters in the process. William McCarthy doubled, singled, scored, and brought a runner home. James Randisi pitched an inning and two thirds and struck out three batters. Cole Englert pitched the final two innings and struck out three batters in the process, earning the save. Zach Craib had a single and an RBI while also crossing home plate once. Thomas Bailey had an RBI single. Forkey, Corona, and Ryan DeJoy each walked once. Owen Wright singled, walked, and had a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning that tied the game for Rush-Henrietta Hayden Hodgeman got the start for Royal Comets and struck out one batter over six innings. Derek VanAuker singled and had two RBI. Matthew Turner singled and walked. Austin Yageric and Caden Richards each scored. Dylan Savage and Brandon Mangone each got on base once via a walk. Fred Ferrer pitched the seventh inning.

EAST (8-2) 12
EDISON (1-6) 2
Eric Jones struck out nine batters over five innings to help East win its third straight game. Carlos Gaston singled twice, walked, crossed home plate three times, and drove in four runners. Mitchell Nieves ended 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, two RBI, and a walk. Luis Sanchez doubled, singled, scored twice, and had two RBI. Kyle Markham had a two-RBI single and scored.Wildier Rodriguez came around to score twice. Emile Diaz, Yandiel Lopez, and Dabdiel Ramos each scored once. Dariel Ponce singled twice and scored for Edison. Michael Alvarez paired a single with a score.

FINNEY (6-2) 4
PADILLA/WORLD OF INQUIRY/MONROE/SCHOOL WITHOUT WALLS (1-5) 3
Leo Methe doubled and scored in a fifth inning that saw Finney plate three runners to erase a 3-1 deficit. Roy Kang singled and scored and Romeo Pauly walked and scored as well in the frame. Olin Pickens singled and crossed home plate in the fourth inning to get Finney on the board. Kang and Mateo Gefell each drew two walks. Cooper Pirro and Paxton Pirro both got on base once via a walk.

SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (5-4)
KENDALL (8-1)
The game was suspended in the 4th inning due to weather and will be finished at a later date.

Alexis Rosado pitched four innings and struck out five batters on the mound while adding an RBI single and a walk to aid Aquinas. Ryan Lewin produced a pair of singles and two RBI while crossing home plate twice. Trent Buttles scored twice and singled as well as walked. Lucas Leone singled, walked three times, had two RBI, and scored twice. Sean Mayo doubled and brought two runners home. Brandon Speranza placed two base hits. Brody Ignizio singled, scored, and got on base once via a walk. Jackson Hobbs walked twice and came around to score twice. Michael Duprey paired a walk with a run, and struck out two batters in an inning of relief. The game was called early because of weather.

Camron Quick hurled a complete game with 10 strikeouts while Constantino LoPresto scored twice and was 3-for-3 at the plate including a two-run home run to help Palmyra-Macedon win for the eighth time in nine games. Quick also singled, walked, and scored. Shane Maier hit an RBI double and scored. Noah Dapolito and Ryan Caffyn each doubled and crossed home plate. Brayden Leo paired a single with an RBI. Jordan Goff singled and scored twice. Benjamin Smith struck out nine batters over five innings while starting for Wayne. Caleb Celso struck out a batter over an inning of relief and also singled. Michael Grasso singled. Aidan Twist threw for an inning and had a strikeout. Cory Jones Jr., Gehrig Locker, Logan Leszyk, and Harry Croft each got on base once via walk.

WATERLOO (3-6) 9

Chase Osterhout pitched a complete game no-hitter, striking out 12 in the process to guide Waterloo to a Finger Lakes East win. Kellen Mahoney placed a pair of base hits and crossed home plate three times. Dylan Caraballo and Ryder Tam each singled twice and stole a base. Jayden Mansell singled and walked twice. Tyler Gilbert walked, stole a base, and scored for Penn Yan.

Braxton Wilkes went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Midlakes. DJ Wing singled twice and plated a runner. Zachary Donk and Logan Churchill each singled.  Nicholas Hunter stole a base.

Kaidan O’Connor struck out 10 batters in five innings of one-hit pitching to lead Livonia to its third straight win. O’Connor also singled. Seth Eadie singled and scored. Brady O’Keefe placed a single and got on base once via walk. Aaron Kime, Caden Cavo, and Jacob Benitez each walked once. Owen Cuba struck out 10 batters over four and a third innings of pitching and singled. The game was called early because of weather.

Evan Laird pitched a complete game and picked up 11 strikeouts in the process to help Sodus win a Wayne County contest. Laird also added two singles, three runs, and a walk. Garrett Barron ended 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBI, and a run scored.  Braydn Orbaker doubled, singled, and brought two runners home. Parker Orbaker singled, scored, and had two RBI. Jordan Orrange Paton singled and scored. Austin Cincinello walked twice and scored twice. Cooper Ingersoll and Carter Salerno each walked once. Thomas Mills doubled and singled for North Rose-Wolcott. Cody Crane threw five innings of starting pitching and racked up six strikeouts. Landon Bundy had a single, an RBI, and pitched an inning of relief. Stephen Robinson paired an RBI with a single. Clayton Collins walked and singled. Evan DeWispelaere placed a single. Lathan Milliman walked and scored.

Dain Brisky was 4-for-5 with an RBI and two scored runs to help Clyde-Savannah win for the third time in four games. Derek Cole had a two-RBI single in a first inning that saw Clyde-Savannah get out to a 5-0 lead. Cole finished with three RBI, two runs scored, and two walks. Max Waldron scored four times, singled, walked, and struck out 10 batters over five and a third innings as the starter for the Golden Eagles. Spencer Bloomer doubled, scored twice and brought a runner home. Jackson Barr had a double, an RBI, a run, and a walk. Barr pitched the final one and two third innings and picked up a pair of strikeouts. Vincent Nicoletta connected on a two-RBI single. Nico Lainhart brought a runner home, walked, and came around to score. Aiden Grinnell drew a pair of walks and crossed home plate once. Myles Wurtz singled four times, scored four times, and had three RBI for Williamson. David DeFisher doubled, singled, scored, walked, and brought three runners home. Joey Vanlare tripled, singled, scored twice, and had two RBI. Devin Allen struck out three batters over two and two third innings as the starter and added a single and two RBI. Christian Watson picked up nine strikeouts in four and a third innings of relief and singled, scored twice, and drew two walks offensively. Cooper Brandt doubled and scored. Charles Walter singled, walked, and scored twice. Spencer Blauvelt plated a runner.

Chris Ebersole struck out six batters over five innings while allowing no hits to help Keshequa win in Livingston County action. Owen Pike ended 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs. Aiden Upright tripled, singled, plated a pair of runners, and scored four times. Nathan Hillier doubled, singled twice, scored, and had two RBI.

Matt Clark threw a complete game and struck out three batters to help Wayland-Cohocton pick up its fourth straight victory. Ethan Loop and Owen Wolfanger each placed two hits. Loop picked up two RBI. Alex Fedorchuk singled and scored twice. Nolan Dezarn struck out seven batters over six innings for Dansville. Logan Kendall doubled and singled. Nolan DeZarn and Brady Henchen each paired a single with an RBI.

Tyler Harvey went 2-for-4 with three RBI to help Perry win for the second time in three games. Walker Briggs earned the win on the mound after striking out six batters. BEau Slocum singled, walked, and stole two bases. Parker McGarvey knocked in two runs.

Austin Humphrey struck out five batters in five innings of pitching to help Pembroke pick up a Genesee Region win. Trey Newton had two singles, one of which being an RBI single in the first inning to make it 1-0. Jayden Bridge had an RBI double in the first inning that scored Newton and would go on to double again in the fifth inning. Joshua Von Kramer paired two singles with an RBI. Brayden Lang singled and scored. Landon Santini walked and scored. Owen Shultz and Anthony Abbatiello each placed a single. Hunter Tobolski pitched four innings and struck out five batters for Oakfield-Alabama. Tobolski would also score a run. John Cianfrini singled and pitched an inning of relief. Levi Kabel had an RBI and a single. Avery Watterson had a base hit. David Schnaufer walked. The game was called earlier because of weather.
