Batavia Notre Dame’s Jameson Motyka earned the honor of being named to the NYSHSHCA Division II All-State 1st Team this season.
The senior forward led all of Section V in goals with 30 on the year and finished second in points with 59 during the regular season.
He recorded a point in every game this season including four contests where he had six or more points. The senior forward’s best two games were seven point efforts against Iroquois Central and Clarence where he scored twice and registered five helpers.
Motyka continued his high powered scoring into sectionals where in just three games he tallied 12 points with eight goals and four assists. His playoff dominance was highlighted by a seven point effort against Churchville-Chili in the first round where the senior forward found the back of the net five times.
The senior ends his Batavia Notre Dame tenure as the program’s all-time leading point scorer with 229 career points.
Along with Motyka, 13 other Section V players earned NYSHSHCA All-State honors.
Mikey Dossier from Aquinas and Anthony Pusateri from Webster Schroeder each received honors for Division II along with Motyka.
Dossier earned 2nd team honors as the junior forward led all of Section V in points and assists with 68 points and 41 helpers. Dossier recorded four five plus point contests.
Pusateri received 3rd team honors as the defensemen led all d-men in points and assists in Section V with 29 points and 23 helpers. The Webster Schroeder defensemen recorded two four point performances during the regular season.
In Division I, Penfield’s Rory Gately and Hilton’s Barrett Paolini earned 2nd team honors while Pittsford’s Aden Brown earned 3rd team.
Gately finished the season with third most points amongst defensemen in Section V with 24. The senior defensemen record a five point effort against on January 25th against LaSalle Institute.
Paolini led all Section V goalies in goals against average and save percentage. The senior net minder posted a .937 save percentage and a 1.51 GAA in 15 contests. Paolini earned four shutouts including a 21 save shutout on February 21 against Brighton/HFL/Eastridge in the first round of sectionals.
Brown posted .916 save percentage and a 2.14 goals against average during his senior campaign for Pittsford. The senior goalie had a strong postseason with a .98 GAA, .959 save percentage, and a 35 save shutout against McQuaid February 27 in a double overtime 1-0 final.
Eight players earned Honorable Mention honors for All-State. In Division I, Brighton/HFL/Eastridge’s Emmet Landt, Pittsford’s Drew Ricketts, McQuaid’s Jack Callery and Matt Kozara were all named. In Division II, Aquinas’ Caleb Wood, Batavia Notre Dame’s Rhys Tanner, Victor’s Simon Kowal and Brennen Paskins were included.
