Wednesday’s 1:05 game between the Rochester Red Wings and Worcester Red Sox at Innovative Field was postponed due to inclement weather, the team announced.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, with game one set to begin at 3:35 p.m., with game two beginning shortly after the conclusion of first contest. Both games will be seven-inning affairs.
Anyone with tickets to Wednesday’s game can exchange tickets for any future home games in the regular season, including the Thursday doubleheader.
The Red Wings (3-11) have been in a heavy skid for much of the young season, starting the year 2-1 but going 1-10 since, including a 7-2 loss to Worcester in Tuesday’s series opener at Innovative Field. They’ll look to turn it around in Thursday’s doubleheader with Worcester with left-handers Andrew Alvarez and Konnor Pilkington set to go in games one and two, respectively.
heavy skid is putting it mildly. Sometimes in every sport there are teams that just don’t mesh and often you learn that early on. For example in the AHL this year the Bridgeport Isles won only 4 home games en route to being by far the worst team in the league. They never got out of the blocks. It happens.
Right now, the composition of the Red Wings is simply ‘off’. Nothing is working in any area: pitching, hitting; running; defense. Its all bad. Washington has not given us a cohesive unit of guys able to win ballgames. 3-11 (and losers of 10 in the last 11) indicates trouble. Pretty soon if this doesn’t change it will be too late for the fans here to see any relevant baseball at Frontier (oops, that other name)
I view this as I always have, as merely a fan who enjoys the hometeam winning. I have felt that way since the first time I entered Red Wing Stadium in 1959.
Its different now. But in some aspects the same. In 1960 our parent team St.Louis ripped us apart and we had to discard them and move on to the Orioles. That worked for over 40 years until the O’s management destroyed the farm system and Wings asked for and got a divorce. The Twins were next and they were decent parents overall. Wings enjoyed some fantastic years since 1959 and of course some duds.
I’m not a fan of the Nationals. Partly because I don’t think they are a good fit here…they have no footprint in Rochester and most Wings fans don’t much care at all about them. Local media ignores them totally. And partly because I am a charter Montreal Expo fan and thats where this franchise should still be. (thats my personal problem, no one else’s)
Red Wings are unwatchable right now. The weather has been awful. Maybe the best thing that can happen is for a lot more April games to be postponed till later. That might give the organization a chance to figure things out better. For me, not playing is better than watching this team play badly.
