Friday Softball Wrap: Bloomfield’s Wright strikes out 16; Avon’s Crye drives in eight

OUR LADY OF MERCY 15
IRONDEQUOIT 2 (6 innings)
Mercy jumped to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first and never relinquished it, with Leah Sperry throwing a three-hitter from the circle with five strikeouts. Sperry also helped her own cause at the plate, notching two hits including doubling in a run. Catcher Natalie Casale led the Monarchs at the plate with a walk and two hits, including a triple, to bring in three RBI. The senior also scored three runs. Brenna Ray tallied two hits and scored twice, as did Alannah Riley. Katherine Abbamonte and Annika VanDamme both put an RBI in the scoresheet. Ella Cooley, Bella Faticone, and Anna Ortiz had hits for Irondequoit.

WEBSTER SCHROEDER 11
BRIGHTON 2
Liana DeValder struck out 14 and allowed four hits and no earned runs in the circle and hit a home run with four RBI and a walk as part of a 2-for-4 day at the plate for Webster Schroeder. Kinsley Keil went 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and stolen base. Kenzie Janicek and Emma Juliano each had two hits and a run scored. Amber Kohlmeir doubled, singled, and drove in two. Kyara Murphy had two hits and three RBI, including a double. Juliana Frumusa recorded a hit, RBI, run, walk, and stolen base. Kate Sayer drew two walks, scored three runs, and stole a bag. Taylor Shoars led Brighton with two hits.

CHARLES FINNEY 0
GREECE STORM 12
Allison Sywulski threw five scoreless innings from the mound and went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, a stolen base, and three RBI at the plate as the Greece Storm won their second straight. Brooke Bassett and Jenelle Staples both went 2-for-3 as well, with a double each. Bassett recorded two RBI, while Staples swiped four bags. Ashlyn Bebout had her first varsity hit, a triple, and notched three RBI.

RUSH-HENRIETTA 15
GATES CHILI 3 (5 innings)
Kadyn Hartel’s three hits and three innings of shutout pitching paved the way for a Rush-Henrietta victory. The senior struck out six from the circle while driving in a run and scoring three times offensively. Elizabeth Gleghorn hit a solo home run in the second inning, one of two hits and two RBI for her on the day, while also pitching an inning of relief where she didn’t allow an earned run. Katelyn Millitello went 2-for-4 with two RBI, stealing two bases and recording a double while scoring three runs. Elizabeth Brown also had a two-hit day, driving in three and scoring a run. Etta Neubeck had a hit and an RBI. Kaylee Hartman singled. Liz Rinella (2) and Kyle Piedici (1) rounded out the RBI column. Audrey Gleghorn struck out one in an inning of relief. Claire Yates had two hits and two RBI for Gates Chili, including a double. Mackenzie Brown drove in one run on two hits. Maia Lawhorn and Payton Kretser both singled.

NORTHSTAR CHRISTIAN 15 (5 innings)
Lola Rivera pitched a five-inning no-hitter for Northstar, striking out 13. Aprell Davis had four hits and an RBI at the plate, while Leanna Patrick and Lillianna Williams each had two hits and two RBI.

MIDLAKES 1
Wayne took an early lead never trailed as Myia Eskander struck out 10 over seven innings while allowing four hits and an earned from the circle. The senior helped her own cause, doubling at the plate. Jesse Newmyer had three hits including a double and drove in three. Samantha Ray also doubled, driving in one. Kenzi Jagoda tallied an RBI on a hit. Sophie Armstrong (2) and Zoe Eaton (1) also singled. Nevaeh Bowen drove in Midlakes’ lone run, while Kenzie Turner tripled, scored, and also struck out seven from the circle. Emma LaBour and Lauren Godkin each singled.

PENN YAN 2
PALMYRA-MACEDON 18 (5 Innings)
Shelby Geer scored four times and Brianna VanHaneghan struck out five in three innings as Palmyra-Macedon won its home opener. Seager Emerick struck out two in two innings of relief. Emmalynne Bedette doubled, walked, and scored twice. Elianne Rouland, like Geer, had a hit and three walks- she scored three runs. Addison Gendron singled while recording two RBI, a walk, and a run scored.

BLOOMFIELD 8
MYNDERSE 1
Bloomfield’s Ashlyn Wright struck out 16 while allowing two hits and no earned runs while adding a hit of her own at the plate. Sydney Falsone led the Bombers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double, and a walk. Abby O’Brien, Addison Falsone, and Marlee Poole each had a hit and an RBI. Sawyer Gallup and Brianna Leitten both hit safely twice, with Gallup also stealing a bag. Ashlyn Wright also had a hit. McDermott and Young each hit safely for Mynderse, with McDermott doubling and Young knocking in the lone Blue Devils run. Isabella Burlew struck out three from the circle for Mynderse.

DUNDEE/BRADFORD 13
GENEVA 0

Morgan Sutryk threw a six-inning no-hitter for Dundee/Bradford, striking out 13. She aided herself from the plate, driving in three runs. Adalyn Tham and Piper Simpson each hit safely twice with Tham doubling and tripling while driving in two runs, while Alexis Rosno drew two walks. Korrin Yeoman tripled in a run and scored three times. Reese Simpson and Hannah Herrick singled. Carmela Mazzocchi struck out 10 for Geneva.

SOUTH SENECA/ROMULUS 7
WATERLOO 12

Ava Panek, Gwen DiIorio, Gwyn Panek, and Brooklyn Hacks all had two hits and two RBI for Waterloo, which took the lead in the second and never relinquished it. Ava Panek knocked two doubles, while Gwyn Panek recorded a double and a triple. DiIorio had a double, single, and earned the win in relief, entering with two outs in the second inning and allowing two hits the rest of the way. Libby Barbay led South Seneca/Romulus with a double, single, and an RBI.

LIVONIA 6
NEWARK 7 (8 innings)
A one-out single by Ryann LaRue gave Newark a walk-off victory in extra innings. The game-winning single was LaRue’s third hit of the day to go with two doubles earlier in the game. The extra-inning win was made possible thanks to a three-run rally in the seventh that saw Jessica Brown record an RBI single before Gretchen Crawford brought two home with a two-out line drive single to center. Crawford and Kendall Carr had three hits on the day, as did Sophie Delfs, who also notched an RBI. Karina Natale earned the win with eight strikeouts in the circle and an RBI at the plate. Gwenyth Strom, Madison Beach, and Chloe Meys all had two hits and an RBI for Livonia, with Strom tripling. Alexandria McKeel and McKenna Collins also had two hits. Alexa Olsen doubled in an RBI, while Alaina Turek singled.

A triple from shortstop Kendal Bennett in the bottom of the third inning gave the Geneseo Blue Devils a 3-2 lead that they’d never relinquish. The junior also drew two walks on the day and scored a run. Adelyn McDonald struck out 11 batters while allowing six hits and four runs from the circle while going 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and two runs- including the go-ahead in the third- at the plate. Emma Conklin recorded two RBI and drew two walks. Emily Metz walked and scored a run. Paige Rossborough and Abigail Radesi also drove in an RBI each. Rossborough also led the Blue Devils in steals, with five swiped bags. Parker and Kaminski each drove in runs for Warsaw, with Olivia Parker, Kaitlyn Treutlein, Tanzie Keough, Emily Klump, Madalyn Schurn, and Kendra Belden all picking up a hit each. Schurn also started the game in the circle, going 4.2 innings with two strikeouts and allowing four earned runs on three hits.

AVON (1-0) 10
Jessie Crye drove in eight runs on four hits at the plate while striking out 12 in seven innings in the circle to spearhead the Avon win. The junior had a double and two triples for the River Hawks, and scored two runs. Abigail Schutz went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, while Kyleigh DeRider hit safely twice and scored four times. Rylie Miller had a hit, a walk, and two RBI. Payton Rice rounded out the hit column for Avon. Kaylie Emmons, Alexis Mitchell, and Autumn Mann each singled for Letchworth, while designated hitter Gillian Kemp drove in an RBI when Mann scored on a groundout in the fourth.

CALEDONIA-MUMFORD (1-0) 15 (5 innings)
Grace Beach led Caledonia-Mumford to a season-opening win, allowing a lone hit from the circle while striking out four and helping her own cause with a 3-for-4, 3 RBI day at the plate, including two doubles and a triple. Colleen Talty had a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate, recording two doubles and three RBI. Shea Drazkowski, Kylie Padlick-Field, Bri Lynn, and Kate McCowan all had two hits, while Nora Walton came around to score three times. C.C. Biondo had York’s lone hit and struck out five from the circle.

Lydia Clymo went 2-for-3 with a double for Perry, with teammate Olivia Monteleone also recording two hits.

Four runs in the first and a sacrifice by M. Dick in the third kept Attica ahead wire-to-wire for the win. Dick had two RBI on the night. Corrin Orlowski and Hailey Mills both had two hits, with Mills also notching an RBI and striking out 10 from the circle. Morgan Jackson had a hit and an RBI, while Tessa Dominesey hit safely once as well. Kimberley Piorun added an RBI for the Blue Devils. Adalyn Ball and Reagan Schneider both had three hits including a double and an RBI for Pembroke. Diem Laney contributed a hit and RBI. Taylor Bischoff (2) and Camille Campbell (1) rounded out the hit column. Jayden Hootman struck out six.

Meyah Putnam had an RBI single, stole a bag, and scored two runs for Avoca-Prattsburgh, all while also earning the win in the circle with six strikeouts. The freshman walked one and allowed an earned run. Brooke Vanskiver doubled and scored a run, while Payton Hopkins drove in a run, drew a walk, and stole a base.
