
Section V’s representative hasn’t lost in over four months. Section VI’s squad collected two 20-point sectional wins on its trip to the state tournament. Keshequa and Frewsburg go to battle for a spot in the state semifinal. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: Keshequa had a first-round bye before double-digit wins over No. 8 Pavilion (63-39) and No. 5 Oakfield-Alabama (41-29). The Wildcats defeated No. 3 York in the Class C2 title bout 57-52 before a 66-55 regional qualifier win over No. 3 Bloomfield. Frewsburg beat No. 6 Cassadaga Valley (70-50), No. 2 Randolph (50-47) and No. 5 Maple Grove (66-32) en route to the regional round.
Scoring offense: Keshequa (63.2), Frewsburg (65.7)
Scoring defense: Keshequa (41.4), Frewsburg (43.6)
Trends: Keshequa’s last loss was Dec. 9 and the Wildcats have won 21 games straight. All but three Wildcat regular-season games were double-digit victories. Twelve of their wins on the year were by over 20 points. Frewsburg won its first six games of the year.

History 101: Keshequa is making its third regional appearance in program and still looking for the program’s first win in the state quarterfinals. Keshequa lost to Chautauqua Lake in 2014 and Panama in 2022. Frewsburg is making its second straight and sixth regional appearance since 2002. The Bears beat Dundee/Bradford in the 2024 NYS Class C quarterfinal.
What’s at stake: Winner advances to face Section I’s Tuckahoe in the state semifinal.
