
One squad aims to continue a program-best season. The other looks to advance to its first regional since 1985. York and Honeoye are set to battle on Wednesday to determine who advances to the Class C Far West Regional. Here’s the breakdown:

How they arrived here: York entered the postseason with a 62-53 victory against Perry in the first round. The Golden Knights followed with a 61-50 win over Cuba-Rushford and a three-point victory against Notre Dame Batavia (71-68) to lift York to the championship. The Golden Knights then beat Bolivar-Richubrg (64-58) and Alexander (66-64) to advance to the regional qualifier. Honeoye opened up postseason play with a 67-48 victory over Mount Morris in the quarterfinals after receiving a bye in the first round. The Bulldogs carried that momentum into the semifinals with a 10-point victory against Charles G. Finney (60-50) to advance to the C3 title game. Honeoye then beat South Seneca (54-27) to capture the title.

Trends: York enters on a five-game win streak. In two of those five games, York held its opponent to under 50 points. On the season, the Golden Knights have held opponents to under 50 seven times. Honeoye has won 22 straight after its first loss of the season came at the hands of South Seneca in the season opener, 65-60. In the past two years, the Bulldogs have tallied just eight losses. 19 of Honeoye’s wins this season have came by 10-plus points and 13 by 20 points or more. The Bulldogs have scored 70-plus points in 14 outings while holding opponents to 50 points or less in 13.

History 101: York is fresh off a buzzer-beater win against Alexander to advance to the regional qualifier. The Golden Knights also captured their third title in program history, but are looking to advance to the Far West Regional for the first time. Honeoye looks to advance to the Far West Regional for the first time since 1985. Since then, the Bulldogs won four titles, but were unable to reach the regional.
