Two teams with sectional titles and identical records come to battle. The pair are ranked one after the other by NYSSWA. On Tuesday, World of Inquiry and East Rochester clash to decide the Section V Class B Far West Regional Qualifier. Here’s the breakdown:

WORLD OF INQUIRY GRIFFINS (20-3 / Rochester City Athletic Conference / No. 22 NYSSWA)
vs.
EAST ROCHESTER BOMBERS (20-3 / Wayne County / No. 23 NYSSWA)

How they arrived here: Top-seeded World of Inquiry defeated Livonia (80-45) and Hornell (65-38) to reach the Section V Class B1 final. The Griffins beat Waterloo (62-53) to capture the title. East Rochester took down Bishop Kearney (56-52) and Canisteo-Greenwood (46-44). The Bombers won over Avon (57-56) in the sectional championship.

Scoring offense: World of Inquiry (67.7), East Rochester (66.5)

Scoring defense: World of Inquiry (52.8), East Rochester (46.4)

Trends: World of Inquiry has won six of its last seven games including two postseason victories by 20 or more points, while East Rochester has claimed 10 straight.

History 101: After winning its first sectional championship in program history, World of Inquiry looks to add to its list of inaugural accomplishments. East Rochester is looking to make its fourth state quarterfinal appearance and first since 2012.

What’s at stake: A spot in the NYS Class B quarterfinal against the winner of the Section VI Class B Regional Qualifier between Akron and Wilson.
