CANANDAIGUA N.Y.—Tournament MVP Lily Baughman led Bloomfield with a game-high 23 points as the Bombers won back-to-back Section V Class C1 titles after a 64-47 win over Caledonia-Mumford. Baughman netted eight of her 23 in the first quarter as the Bombers jumped out to a 25-5 lead they would never relinquish.

“We wanted to win last year and it had been 17 years since we had a won a title, we won and I got my whole team back this year so it’s like, all right this is a no brainer, we’re going to win back-to-back,” Bloomfield head coach Julie Kimball said. “It’s an amazing feeling, I could not be prouder of these girls, they fought hard and didn’t give up.”
Baughman scored the first four points for Bloomfield and ended with eight in the first quarter.
“It was our fast ball movement, our fast pace, our teamwork and working inside and outside that worked for us early,” Baughman said.
In the second quarter Caledonia-Mumford climbed their way back into it outscoring the Bombers 24-11 in the quarter to make it a 36-29 game at half. Hazell Nickerson netted 10 of her team-high 15 points in the frame.

Bloomfield came out in the third and outscored Cal-Mum 13-9 off the back of Calla McCombs six points in the quarter. McCombs ended with 15 in the game.
“I think that we had been here before, we had experienced the atmosphere before and we were just ready,” McCombs said. “We’ve wanted it since the beginning of the season.”
Heading into the fourth quarter the Bombers had a 49-38 lead, Baughman netted 13 points in the final frame to ice it, despite the comeback attempts of the Raiders.
“I always say to them stay composed, stay disciplined and calm down,” Kimball said. “We started to let them creep back into it and they have great players with Hazell Nickerson and Ava (Amorese) and we knew they were going to score and we just needed to stay calm , take care of the basketball and try to win each quarter.”
Annie Dodge added 12 points for Bloomfield, Sydney Falsone (8), Ashlyn Wright (3) and Addie Falsone (3) rounded out the scoring in the win.

For Caledonia-Mumford Ava Amorese pitched in 12 points, Emma Drazkowski hit for eight points and Olivia Amorese ended with two points.
“Our season was great, early on in the season we were 4-3 and had a tough stretch of games, lost to Hornell and then after that we didn’t lose until today,” Caledonia-Mumford head coach Mike Reed said. “These girls dug in, they gave it everything and that’s what we talked about, despite win or lose we want you to give your best effort and that was certainly true today.”

With the win, Bloomfield moves on to take on Keshequa on Tuesday in the Class C regional qualifier game at a neutral site. Time is to be announced.
“We’ve been scouting Keshequa,” Kimball said. “We go home, we celebrate and then we get right back into the gym tomorrow and we will have a tough practice.
